sigh 1 Attachment(s) so i found jake a new home. sigh. that was hard. i've bonded with him. and now he's gone. and baxter misses him. but he's with one of my dear friends and i know she'll give him the home he needs. but it's still sad to see him go. also, i went back to the flea market this month with another friend. and she ended up buying a peek-a-poo (against my advice to get a lhasa apso.) welll.. i haggled the price down from $200 to $175. and i told the woman i'd give her $20 for a lhasa apso, since it was the last day of the market and they were about to close and she reluctantly agreed.. haha.. that's a $200 dog! sooo i got that precious lil darling. i named her nomi and gave her to another female friend as a present. that was the smartest lil puppy i've ever seen. she's almost potty trained and she hasnt even had her two days yet. anyhoo. with all these dogs running around, i realized how much i love baxter. i'm so glad i took that risk, for those of you who remember our story. he's the best thing that's happened to me in years. i love that when other people hold him, he watches me. and if i move towards the door, he comes running. he's really not that needy, he just wants to be in the same room with me. it's the greatest feeling knowing that he loves me, as much as a dog can. he's so loyal. sigh. after my boyfriend killed himself and my grandmother (who raised me) died... i really hit rock bottom. i had to take pills just to help me get through the day. everything was steadily falling apart and i'd never felt so empty. and now i can feel those things healing, for the first time. i know it doesnt make sense to most people, but really, baxter is changing my life. he's making me want to live again. i love my dog. sorry for rambling. i just had to get this out. |
(((((((((mikey))))))))) i didnt know your story but all i can say is *hugs* |
hi mikey. i know how you feel. My Dougal and Wee have saved my life when I've been depressed. Did you know you just can't cry when a yorkie oozes onto your lap and starts licking your ear? :D :p Yorkie kisses in Baxter's ear cos he's missing his mate! |

1 Attachment(s) Mikey, my son died at 4 months old and if he would have lived I would loved for him to turn out like you! So... if you don't mind I would like to call you my Son h.c. (honoris causa.) And I like to upgrade your Big Yorkie Rescue Medal to a Blue Ribbon Big Yorkie Rescue Medal! :aimeeyork |
Bad Mikey, trying to make me cry at work!!;) You are a wonderful young man with lots of love in your heart. You have demonstrated this by facing all kinds of adversity with grace, taking in and caring for needy animals and being a wonderful friend. It's no wonder that Baxter loves you so much, as we all know that animals see straight through to the heart. I hope you and Baxter share many years of joy together. Nikko and I send you and Baxter lots of hugs and puppy kisses all the way from NYC.:hug60:  |
Awwww, I am glad Baxter loves you best. Pets love without any discrimination of any kind...they just love you. Glad you found a good home for your latest rescue and helped a friend get her new doggie pal. Sounds like Baxter will have plenty of fur friends. :) |
What a wonderful story! I certainly understand just how much Baxter means to you. We all understand that! I'll bet it was really hard to let Jake go to a new home. I would have loved having him in mine. Take care!:) |
Mikey, you are the BEST!! Gosh, Mikey, you have been so utterly adopted by this group, have you not?? We all want you for a son, lol! I see that you have taken on the mission to rescue as many pets as you can! You keep this up, and everyone you know will have a dog or twenty! I LOVE the picture of you and Baxter, sweetie!! That is an amazing shot.:p |
It sounds like you are making it through your losses. God has a plan for us and I've always felt, as hard as it is, that people and our furry friends, enter our lives for a reason. If they can stay forever, great!!, if not I feel blessed for as long as I have them in my life. Best wishes to you! |
gosh i love this board. you're all so great. and you can never have enough moms right? |
I'm glad you did the right thing by Jake. It's hard to get attached and then let them go. At least you gave him to a friend so you'll be able to see him from time to time. |
