Dog Runs
 
My yorkie, Bella, is 8 months old and a little over 3lbs. I never let her outside by herself, she's definitely an indoor dog, but I feel bad keeping her in the bathroom while I'm at work. She has plenty of toys and such, but she loves to be outside. I've been looking into dog runs with covers. I have a "dog-loo" that I can put inside so she'll have a house. Is it a bad idea to leave her outside for 9 hours? Even if she's locked in and it's covered? I just like the idea of her having fresh air and grass. :)

i would never leave my dog outside no matter what.. can you leave her
in the kitchen area.. 9 hrs a day in the bathroom is alot... i always left lexi
in my hallway and it was 15 feet long and she had my mom come in and check on her..

I dont know what the weather is where you are but when my dogs are out in 80 degree or more weather they are panting like crazy. And they definitely cant be out in extreme cold. I cant imagine leaving a yorkie outside for 9 hours a day.

Well I live in Orange County CA. Usually my mom is home and she watches her, but sometimes my mom goes out. She has a life outside my yorkie :) . I just don't like her being alone. My work lets me bring her, but she doesn't like being inside all day. Thanks for the advice! ;)

dont lock her in the bathroom... if your gone a long time.. can you put her at least in the kitchen or hallway or livingroom.. with the tv on or radio....

Hi,

I wouldn't keep your little one outside because dognapping is too easy. My mother caught a man attempting to steal a small dog, when he saw that she spotted him he put the dog down and took off. Maybe I'm overly protective but that's my take on it.

Well I have a pretty big bathroom with windows, so she has plenty of room and fresh air, but I know she likes it outside. The hallway in my house has no windows.

The floor plan of my house is really open, so it would be hard for me to confine her to one particular area, like the living room or kitchen. But I have some other ideas I can see if they work. Thanks everyone for all the feedback. I would never want to do anything that could potentially hurt my dog.
