Adult Female Yorkie - More Questions Help Everyone: I just got another email from the breeder. This 3 year old beautiful Yorkie has only had one home - she is the breeder's dog. Her email said, "I am selling Zoe because she is spayed, after her last litter. Don't get me wrong I love her dearly, if I lived in a bigger house I would not sell any of my retired dogs. If you are looking for a pet she is great." She sent me six pics and she is a beauty. Questions: 1 Can I change her name after three years, or will it be too confusing? 2 She has long, gorgeous hair, but I also love the puppy cut. If I decide to get a puppy cut, is this OK for older dogs. This probably sounds like a stupid questions. She is gorgeous like she is, but I like both cuts. Thanks again everyone, Kate |

2. Yea, you can cut a dogs hair in a puppy cut at any age.... |
Dogs, specially yorkies, are very smart, so she will adpat to anything you choose (new name and new hair style) of course she will need time to adjust. :) |
Thats such a cute reply Babbie, I agree.. I bet she will be so happy to have you as her mommy she will adjust just fine. |
My Maggie is 4 years old, and is still wearing a slightly modified puppy cut. It's definately shorter around the face (no pony tails for us). I think she's adorable!!!!!!!! As for the name, I've had Maggie since she was a baby. She responds to Maggie, MaggieAnne, Mag-ster, Punkin' and Bounch. I certainly don't think that Zoe will have any problem with a name change! I think it may just be more about the tone of voice than the actual words you use to call them. (Although I know for a fact that there are certain words: kisses, ride, bath and baby box, that my Maggie understands VERY WELL!) Good luck with your new "baby"! |
What a great oppurtunity!!!! I wish I could find an older yorkie like that! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my puppy, but she is a lot of work! ;) I would love to get another yorkie, but I don't know if I can go through having another puppy! I am sure she would do great with a new hair cut. As for the name, I am sure she will adjust to that too, but if it was me, I would let her keep Zoe. It's cute and she already knows it. Please post some of those pictures! We would LOVE to see her! Congratulations!!!! |
Thank you so very much. I know I won't be able to sleep tonight, and hope I am not getting my hopes up to be disappointed. I am glad to hear from someone with an older dog, as I felt that this may be a mistake as I would hate to miss out on three years of her life. If I get her, I will need to figure out how to post a pic. You should do that too! This dog still has its dewclaws, which I find rather odd seeing it is from a breeder. Are there any breeders here who can comment on that? Thanks. Kate Quote:

P. S. At four years of age, is your Maggie through the rambunctious puppy stage? Does she sleep alot? Kate Quote:
