Illy was spayed today My Illy got spayed today. I can go pick her up at 3:30 and I'm very anxious.:( I talked to the vet around noon and she said she is doing wonderful.:D Any suggestions about what to do for her when I bring her home? |
If they offer pain meds for you to take home, I'd get those and give her one as prescribed. She'll probably be very sleepy the rest of today....tomorrow and the immediate days after, is when you'll want to limit her activity. Keep an eye on her incision too, don't let her lick it or pull at her stitches. Best wishes for a speedy recovery...she'll be back to her old self very shortly. |
I feel for you I know how anxious you must be! Bailey was spayed today too. I have been on pins and needles all day. I get to pick her up in a 11/2 hours and I'm counting the minutes!! Lets lean on eachother:) |
Well at least I'm not the only one going through this today. I just feel so bad for her, but it's for her own good. Hopefully she still loves me. LOL. I'll let you know how she is doing when I get her home. Hope all goes well with your little one also.:D |
The one thing my vet recommended was to just leave her alone. Of course keep an eye on her but just don't mess with her. He also said for me to put her in a nice cool and dark location and just let her be. She's going to be sleepy so just let her recover. They usually bounce back pretty quick. I was very nervous too but I'm sure everything will be ok. |
She is home now and doing fine! She is very sleepy and smells like dog but other than that she is doing good. Just wanted to keep you updated. |
My vet also said not to leave her alone. They used that glue bandage stuff on Bella, and it kept coming apart, so I went in 2 more times. They said she was too small for staples. So I'd be sure to keep an eye on the incision. |
I am SO happy to hear that your girls did well during spaying. It is so necessary for us to continue having them spayed but I will be on pins and needles from now on. After Marlee, I will look at even the most minor of administration of anes differently... I always give my babies scrambled eggs when they have had surgery. A little BeneBac (always after stress and antibiotics) or acidophilus and make sure they have water. I give my post-op babies crushed ice...that is something they will always take. I am a retired RN and I treat my Yorkies and Biewers just as we did humans...oh, and try to keep her from jumping or climbing and make sure her temp is normal. Sometimes, a tiny one cannot maintain body temp at between 100-102 and that is important. Okay, I know your vet told you all of these things but, I am sharing what MY vet and I have worked out as our post op routine... |
Rini, excellent advice! Quote:
Gentle hugs to both girls!!:p |
Bailey is fine too! Just got home with Bailey. She is alert and walking around. She was really happy to see her kitty sisters, so must watch that she doesn't start to play tag.:) |
I am so glad your babies are home. Just give them the ususal TLC and they will be fine. Rini I ma so sorry about Marlee and unfortunately this is a risk of anesthesia but we pray it never happens. I am seriously rethinking having Cali's baby teeth pulled for a while. |
