My Dog's a Wuss LOL I read somewhere on here that when a dog is playing with another dog, one will often times lie on his/her back to show submissiveness to the other dog. Well... anytime Frodo runs into another dog (i.e. when we go for walks, when we do play dates, etc.), he immediately gets in the submissive position. Everyone - including myself! - think it's totally cute, but c'mon Frodo, gain some confidence!! Heehee, I'm complaining now, I should just wait until I get a second yorkie... Anybody else's furbaby do this?? |
My maltese is the same way. Although when we are home and she's out in the back yard with my cockers, she humps them. |
Jewels is that way too. Shes totally submissive |
tripp is that way |
My dog is totally that way -- But, if he sees any people, children, or other animals, he runs as fast as he can to get to them. Then - he flops over on his back....with a lot of tail waggin, wiggling, and kisses. He isn't shy at all, and he is super friendly and certainly doesn't appear to be afraid of anyone. Of course --- he sleeps on his back with his hind legs spread eagle and his front legs straight up. Go figure! I like my little guy being this way. I am positive that it is a much safer way for him to approach other dogs ... and, he's very happy, playful, and affectionate with everyone. Carol Jean |
Georgie will either do that or the cutest thing he is does is get down into like a crouching position he is so close to the ground you couldn't slide a penny under him LOL. My brother has a Great Dane (who is awesome) and Georgie will crouch and squirm under the table:D |
You should ask Mel (SunintheSummer) about her dog, Ella, and a doggy we once met called Boris! :D :p They couldn't decide who was more submissive! And there's nothing funnier than two dogs lieing on their backs looking all the world as if they were saying "I'm more submissive", "No, I'm more submissive" There's some pics on our yorkie group website: http://www.geocities.com/wgtnyorkies/16aprwalk.html Hi Mel - Hope I didn't steal your thunder! Liz |
Yes, my little guy is a wuss too! :p We ran into a beagle and a collie the other day, both female, and Zeus just rolled over on his belly!! He is such a little softie! :) |
Ha I just found this thread!! Yes my Ella is very submissive and immediately rolls over when we meet other dogs!! When I took her to puppy school I don't think anybody even saw her back because she was upside down the whole time. But when she meets a dog smaller than her she has a try at being dominant. Thankfully there aren't that many smaller than her. |
Haha you guys SHOULD not be complaining... my dog is the lil aggressive type and barks at all dogs.. no rolling on back behavior.. However, I did notice that the only time she does that is when i get angry at her (like if she made an accident on the carpet), or when she sees her birth dog parents again. Everytime she goes to see her birth dog parents, she goes on her back immediately.. hehe  |
