Swimming? Do yorkies swim. My parents live on a lake and I was wondering if they can swim. Do they even like water? |
1 Attachment(s) Princess loves water!!!!! She's never been in lake water. We take the boat out all the time, but with the wind, I don't let her get wet. She has her own small pools here at home, and a little boat for our family pool. |
My daughter's yorkie loves the swimming pool according to her. Yesterday dtr and her hubby took Gremlin to the pool at her mom in law's house. Said he was on the decking and saw my dtr duck her head underwater and jumped in after her. He must have thought she needed help. |
Eddie has swam in a pool before. Not sure he loved it because he only did it once, but I know they can swim. I've seen several people get life jackets for their Yorkies. And in a lake, I'd recommend it. |

My yorkie likes swimming and she is very good at it. My chi hates swimming. I think it just depends on the dog and possibly the breed (Ive found that chihuahuas dont like a lot of things, lol). If you want to take your yorkie out on the lake I would be sure to have them wear a doggie life jacket since a lake is so big.:) |
Brownie loves the water, but she doesn't like pools. I think it's the smell of cholorine and I wouldn't want her in there either, I think the cholorine will ruin her coat too.... |
I dont really see Yorkies in the water alot but make sure your pup is wearing a little floater.:) |
My yorkies paddle in the ocean at the beach. But it's FREEZING on the south coast - even during summer - all I want to do is paddle myself! :p It's SO funny when there are hardier dogs on the beach who play fetch in the waves and Dougal chases after them, they keep running and swimming to get their ball but Dougal comes to a screaming halt when the water hits his tummy and runs straight back out. :D |

We had Zoe and Lizzy in our pool this past week. Yes indeed they can swim...however I really think they hated it but they were so hot..it really cooled them off. ( we did give them a bath afterward to rinse the cholorine off...it might dry them out) |
