I did NOT want to do this.......it hurts.... Since my 5 pound Yorkie bit a horse,the Animal control folks deemed it a dangerous dog and it must be muzzled. I do not want to do it,but i may have no choice. Can you help me.... |
I read the first thread. Muzzle your Yorkie, get a trainer to deal with the behaviour, and hope that by proving better behaviour down the line you can get the order to muzzle the dog reversed. If my little Bailey bit another animal - ANY kind of other animal - or a person, I'd have her confined to the house, find a trainer to work on something that I obviously hadn't dealt with well, and thank God that my baby hadn't been put down for her anti-social behavior. |

I think this is a serious thing that has to be taken care of. I still cannot believe how the 5 lb yorkie would bite a horse, but I guess anything can happen. I would be more concerned about her behavior than putting muzzle on her. Dog training must I think... Maybe you can watch Dog Whisperer... to see some ideas too. I sometimes train my friend's pitball... he is aggreesive type.. and I cannot even imagine him biting a horse.. Hmmm. With one or two lessons, he is much more calmer..but consistency is really important. I am not a professional trainer.. but that is my 2 cents. Feeling bad for your yorkie.. might not help you to calm him down. Giving him an approriate training is important and that would make him a happy dog.. |
That should be worth a headline! Yorkie bites horse! Just curious: where did your Yorkie bite the horse (anatomically?) And how did he get close enough to do that? I know quiet a bit about horses and would NEVER allow my Yorkie to get that close. You are lucky your furbaby survived that. One of my horses once killed a German Shepperd that tried to bite her and the horse was a very, very gentle soul and my daughter (5 at that time) used to ride her. A horse can be the nicest, calmest, most patient one but their instincts will always kick in in a situation like that. At first: flee, if not possible: defend. :aimeeyork |
I found that whole previous thread hard to believe. Sorry. I still am curious as to HOW your yorkie was able to bite a horse hard enough to draw blood if that really happened. |

I think this is crazy. I don't see how it happened without the dog being injured as well. I own horses and I have never seen a horse not defend itself when being attacked. I think this whole story is a product of someones sick imagination. |
I think its very strange personally .... how in the world can a Yorkie .. A YORKIE who is 5 pounds bite a horse on the butt ???? is that even possible?? seems impossibe to me, unless they had the yorkie held up by the horses butt, which seems strange enough .... well if its true, WOW !! LOL . |
I spent much of my time growing up on a working ranch and was around horses a LOT. Didn't even think of it earlier, but I think the only teeth that Bailey has that would be thicker than a horse's hide would be her two canines. IF she were in a position to bite a horse, I'd think the worst the horse would come out with would be two fairly small puncture wounds. |
