Barking in Hotel Room...Any Suggestions My husband and I are staying in a hotel for a few weeks with our dog. Everytime we leave the hotel room, he starts barking. I can't be in the hotel room with him all the time but I don't want to annoy everyone on the floor either. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? I already tried a sonic thing that was supposed to emit a sound when he barked. Didn't work. I want to try the citronella spray collar but it is almost $120! And I am afraid it won't work on him. Please help! |
If you cannot take pup with you when you leave the hotel room, then it's best to leave him/her at home, with a sitter. The stress (on the other guests as well as on pooch) is too much just to travel with one's pet. jmo |
Remi does this all the time when we leave the house. He barks a little and then goes to sleep. It his way of saying: "take care, have a good day" or perhaps " you bastards, I dont want to stay home again, wait till you see that stain on the couch". Either way, step away from the door and see if he stops barking after a while. Or leave a recording device with him and see how much he barks. I am sure he goes to sleep soon after you leave. As for neighbors, if someoe complains, show him the dog, and explain the situation. |
We have taken our two yorkies several times with us in hotel rooms. When we leave we alway hang out the DO NOT DISTURD sign, turn on the TV and also turn the the noise machine that I bring along to drown out my husbands snoring. |

:eyetearss :eyetearss :eyetearss :eyetearss Are you leaving the radio or TV on for him? You might want to leave your robe for him to sleep on, he needs to feel close to you. Best of luck! :) :) :) :) |
abbie's mom, we don't have a choice right now. we are currently living in a hotel until my husband gets orders for his next assignment. if we had a choice, he would be at home and we would be out enjoying the beach :D |
maybe get a dog sitter? |
