Max was sick all night! Just a note of caution. Max spent the usual evening on our bed while we watched TV. My husband was feeding him an occasional bite of nuts....tiny bites....he loves them and has never had a bad reaction......(He is allowed the equivalent of 1-2 peanuts) However I did not know he was feeding him an almond  They are not safe for little dogs.......In an hour or so....Max started the diarrhea.....I was up all night with him.....he was one sick little cookie. He is quiet today....no food......nothing but water.....and absolutely never never will have another almond. I have to watch my hubbie...he has trouble resisting little "beggar face"....and he will sometimes feed him bites of the same snacks that our big dogs are eating......can't do that.....they need a stable diet with only infrequent snacks. Don't want your little sweeties to go through this so yet another thing to be watchful for :( Max's Mom |
Higgins had an AWFUL reaction to almonds!!! Could hardly breathe!!!! I had always given a few to Pogo and he never had a problem and I never thought about them being poisonous to dogs. Well. I know now! It IS so hard to resist those little faces looking up at you, but if it isn't just plain ol' simple stuff, mine don't get even a lick at it anymore. |
:( Thanks for the warning. We pretty much try to avoid all human treats, save some fruits or a lick or two of ice cream. Glad Max is doing better today! Beggar face is incredibly hard to avoid. I get barked at, growled at, kicked at (Yoda lightly kicks me with his rear legs) when he wants some food. Usually I'm able to resist, but the Grandparents always give in and sneak him a little meat. |
Sorry to hear Max is not feeling well. It's funny I was eating some mixed nuts last night, leftover from my neices babyshower. For once I resisted and didn't give my two beggers any. Glad I didn't or I would have been up with two sick puppies. Hope Max gets to feeling better real soon..........Cindy |
