Boarding puppies Kizzy will be left at the vets office this weekend for 2 or 3 days. We are going to take a short trip and we've never left her with anyone before. I hope it doesnt make her to scared. I will take her blanket and a toy of her own and her own food, altho I dont have to take anything. I just thought it would be easier for her to have some of her own familiar stuff to help her not be too scared. Anyone that has left theirs for a few days:confused: :( think this will help her to have that with her? |
Well, I have not left mine yet, well,.....except when I was in the hospital, but they stayed home with their dad and the kids....but I dont envy you having to leave them. I think it would be a great idea to bring some of their things for them to have...maybe even something with your scent on it! I bet Kizzy would love it! Good luck and try to have a good time.... |
She should be fine! Is there someone there 24 /7? When Cali was in for surgery for 3 days they said she was fine. The staff carried her around and they would talk to her. She was vert happy to see me when I picked her up. |
Sissy has been boarded twice at our Vet's "Canine Hilton". The area is really quite nice with mock rocks/trees and waterfalls in the aisle between kennels. They play soft music also. The kennel area is broken into two separate kennels, one for big dogs, one for smaller dogs. Each dog is walked a few times each day and spends outside time in a segregated fences area. Both times Sissy was boarded, she was kept in the cattery because it is quieter and she is small (4 lbs). I don't know if this means she gets extra attention or not. In the cattery there are fish tanks and a very large window that has several bird feeders in the courtyard. I took her own bed, a few toys, her own food and her harness/leash so a regular leash and collar was not used. She did okay both times, but was very anxious when I picked her up. As soon as we got into the car, she would let out a big sigh and then settle right down. Although the boarding went fine, I have since met a few local folks who are yorkie owners and we will begin keeping each other's babies when we need to go out of town and can't take them with us. I will feel much more secure with this arrangement. Good luck to you and Kizzy. Have a great time wherever you are going. |
I've never had a problem with boarding my dogs at the vet when I need to go out of town and can't take them. I am sure all will go fine. :) |
thanks to all for you info and it did help but I do trust the vet place with her. They take them out separately for play time in a fenced area everyday. not sure if its one or two times a day but the vets place is nice. I havent seen the place they keep them yet, I will see it tomorrow. I feel she will do fine as she loves people. the girls are always petting her when I take her up there. Its about 12 miles from me. BTW, We're going to the casinos in Ms to give them some more of our money. Hubby says we'd come out better just to send them a check and stay home. lol But we've both had a few pretty good wins a few times, nothing gigantic of course but maybe enough to pay for our trip and have some left over. |
