breed standard have you got a breed standard yorkie? :) i havent so can i see your pics of a breed standard yorkie please. :aimeeyork |
pic's When you say, Breed standard, do you mean one that fits every point of the standard to the letter? I do not have a perfect one..I have seen some in the ring and out of it who were perfect in my eyes..but they say all dogs have faults. Both my girls that I have now would do well compared to the standard. Kate and Emee. The girls in my avatar are three sisters who turned out quite well..two have produce show quality pups..but more important, they are all good companions, who produce/produced Yorkies suited to the standard. Looking at the avatars, I see Yorkies that are both pet and show quality..but when it comes to their quality as a companion, all are perfect. |

mine are not breed standard but that doesnt matter to me:D |
yorkies It has been many years since I had an oversized Yorkie adult...I weeded out all the non-silk and kept as correct as possible for breeding..it is hard. There is NOTHING wrong with an oversize, down ear, soft coated, non-correct Yorkie..but you do not use them for breeding...they are pets to be placed as pets. In the TOY breed, most have one weight standard...you see oversized Poms, CHi, Maltese and lots of others...they do not come in sizes like Doxies or Poodles...I have no problem if the YTCA changes the standard, but I doubt it will happen in my life time... AND, your Yorkies are sweeties, they look like wonderful, loving companions...full of Yorkie spirit... |

  good thread   |
Personally, I think it would be a service to the health of the breed if Yorkies were shown in the Terrier group with the other terriers instead of in the Toy group. Folks get so worried about breeding them small enough! Julie |

Just wnated to say....BEAUTIFUL! How can we tire of seeing how gorgeous she is! WHat a beauty! |
Wow!!!! Olivier she is absolutely beautiful!! :) |
Kenzies Grandma and Oliver, your babies are both so beautiful and I am sure you are both proud of them, I know I would be. I fell in love with the standard yorkie and although I don't think Scampers will be a standard yorkie I am hoping to get one next year. I mean I like all yorkies whether show quality or not but I feel in love with the show quality yorkie, I just love the way they look. By the way, does anyone know how long a breeder has to keep a puppy to see if it has show potential? I will be looking for a puppy with show potential next year and I heard that they keep them until they are six months old, is that the correct amount of time or is it different for each puppy? |

A new baby... HELP! I got my yorkie about 2 months ago. Im in love with her, she's a real doll. I've never owned one before, and I have many questions. She's 5 months and weights about 2 1/2 lbs. she' got the babydoll face, and some white hairs on top of her head. I still have not taken her to get groomer, and I have no idea when I should. Another thing is that her hair doesnt seem the same way as some of the yorkie's I've seen here... it's not not long! how long does it take to fall to the side? ALSO... she's very hyper! is this normal in yorkies? or is she just very spoiled already... she gets plenty of spoiling around the house! |
Silk 1 Attachment(s) my older dog, Coburn's Judabob Southern Showgirl (Silk) is standard. She weighs 4pounds and 8 ounces. Her coat is Silky. She is short. She MIGHT be about an inch too long but I don't think so. I haven't measured that part of her . I am going to try to attach a picture but it is not a very good one. She is out in the cold wind and her hair is blowing making her look like a wild woman. plus, I have trimmed her body hair so it is not as long as it was. |
okay, I just measured Silk and she is nineXnine. So I guess that makes her standard. |
