I am soooo angry!!! Okay guys, sorry but I have to vent. My fiance's sister is just unbelievable. Here is the story (it's long): They brought a Chihuahua with them from Mexico about 21/2 years ago. She has a 3 and 9 year old at home. The 3 year old has always been rough with the little dog, always pulling, hugging too hard, etc. On top of that no one took care of the dog. They left at 6 a.m. and came home at 8 p.m.- the dog was alone all day long. Of course he was not potty trained and when the cuteness of a puppy faded they started moving him from the front room (with no heat) to the back yard with a little house for him to sleep in. It's always foggy and colder where they live so it totally was animal cruelty. So last September she dropped him off with us, supposedly just for the weekend, and we have kept him ever since and he is now part of our family and our Yorkies best friend. He was such a mess when we got him- super afraid but then crazily affectionate. But everytime we would take out the broom or such he would get so frightened so we are thinking that the ex-husband must have abused that poor little fellow. He is really the most affectionate dog. I was really pleased that she let us keep him and he has blossomed since he lives with us. He is a completely different dog. BUT...I just found out yesterday that the useless ex-husband (who doesn't give any child support, is never around, etc) gave her another puppy!! I am so outraged you guys have no idea. I don't know what to do. She is the kind of person who lives in complete denial (she actually thinks she took great care of the dog) and even though I will speak with her I know she won't listen. I want to throw up just thinking about the poor puppy, I feel so horrible and helpless. Sorry guys, I just had to vent...thanks for listening... Anita |
sigh. some people should be banned from animals. i hate how easy it is for just anyone to get a pet. |
Poor puppy , can you not phone animal welfare and explain they may keep an eye on the situation. |
I am playing with that thought...thing is I am pretty much the animal lover and they know it so if animal welfare would out of sudden show up there...don't you guys think everyone would automatically know? I am not shy by any means but I am marrying into his family so it's a tricky situation. I hoping that I can convince her to give the puppy up but I don't think she will since, according to her, she is great with pets. Quote:

That’s weird, I have a good friend who is exactly the same way with pets and had the same incident with a Chihuahua. Guys are always buying her things and a few times it’s been puppies or kittens. It’s like they are disposable objects, like CD’s you get sick of, not the responsibility of a living, breathing, animal, to some people. :thumbdown That’s good to hear the little guy has such a happy home with you guys now.:) |
For some people animals are like toys. When the new puppy smell wears off they think they can put them on the shelf and pull them down when they feel like it. They REALLY don't realize that these are living and breathing animals and they need care and to be loved and most of all protected. |
Poor puppy. Luckily the last one got a wonderful home with you. I hope for the best with the new one. |
Im glad that the chihuahua has a great home with your family. Regarding the new pup, I guess that all you can do for now is keep eye on them to see how they are taking care of the him and report them if need it. Some people are just in denial and need a wake up call. |
Oh, that makes me mad too! Some people just don't get it! |
well its a good thing you got the first dog...but it is very sad for the other puppy...i really dont know the anwser for you other than to keep an eye out on the puppy and if you dont want to call the aspc in your area i would try to talk her out of the puppy and then place it in a good home. |
say a prayer for that little pup..... maybe you will get lucky again and can talk her out of it! I HATE when people dont love their animals! d |
A chihauhua living outside:eek:  I am so glad you gave him a good home where he is loved. Unfortunately this cycle will continue and the puppies are the one who suffer. Some people should be banned from owning pets. |
i know she is your sister in law but you should contact animal services, think of the poor dog! |

Being somewhat experienced in marriage things I think this is one of those situations that can put big time pressure on a relationship. Best of luck to you and stick to your guns! :aimeeyork |
I think you should just keep an eye on the situation like people have suggested. Maybe you could even buy her a basket and fill it with a few puppy things and a really good puppy book. My favorite puppy book is "Puppies for Dummies". ;) Hopefully she won't get the joke!!! And last but not least if her past is any indication..you might have another puppy in your home in a few months!! Good Luck! |
