QUOTE[ihave been reading all the news about the 10lb and overs, they are all beautiful. but i never got an answer as to how to get them together! ]QUOTE A stool?? :) Seriously, if he can't reach, you might have to give him some height advantage like being on a pillow, chair cushion, or the like. A breeder here told me how her male was lifted off the ground when he tied with a female who had come for his stud service. Poor thing! My male is probably going to be small, so I am getting the largest girl from the litter for his mate. I want small, within standard yorkies, but I don't want unhealthy babies either. So, I may have to check back with you in a couple of years to find out what worked for you. |
Big girl, little boy Okay here's how I did it. In April I bred my10 lb. girl with a 4 lb. male. His owner held him on a towel that was folded to be the right height and I held Roxie. When his penis was introduced, which she did have to lift him and help him aim, I held Roxie still through the tie and she held him on Roxie's back. Poor Rox she truly had a monkey on her back. I had to wrap my arms around her because she had to stay perfectly still and she wasn't happy about it. On the second breeding the little booger actually fell asleep during the tie, right there on her back! When he would start to squirm we'd check to see if the tie was complete and we release them. We bred three times skipping a day in between each. We had 6 pups, 3 of each varying in size(so far) from 3.8 to 5.8 lbs at 4 monthes. None were small like their Dad. They were 5 - 6.5 oz. at birth. At adult they should be 6 - 10 lbs. I only expect 1 to reach the ten pound mark though. |

2 Attachment(s) Here's Rocky's sister Jilly with her cousin Ginger Rose. Jilly was 8 oz and Rocky was 4 oz when they were born 4 yrs ago. She's 12 lbs and he's 5. Aunt Judy wanted a petite, little girl like her Poppy (RIP) as soon as she saw Jilly she was in love. She doesn't have to worry about her romping with Ginger or the grandkids. |
2 Attachment(s) This is my 10 lb yorkie, Toto. He's not fat, but has a lot of muscle and is stocky built. :D |
4 Attachment(s) This is our little 10+ pound butterball. Her name is Jazzie and she will be 9-years old on January 4th. She has a full coat so she might be under 10 pounds if we shaved her... which we never will! The little girl in the picture with her is my neice Dhalys (Dallas). |
1 Attachment(s) Baby is 10lbs too! |

I must say, I loooove jazzie's coat. Her colors are beautiful. I love the cute dark stripe on her face! I think our Dobby may end up being a big boy. He was an only child (the only one pup in the litter), and his breeders say he's one of the bigger puppies they've had. He weighed almost 3 lbs when we got him at about 10 weeks. His mom is 5 pounds and his dad is 3...so who knows??? We'll see what happens!:animal36. He's been growing like crazy and he goes to the vet tomorrow. I wonder how much he'll weigh!? |
My boys also are big babies. I just got a digital camera for Christmas, as soon as I figure everything out I too will be sending in some Pics of my boys. Corky is 9 lbs and Wynstn is 13 lbs. Wynstn's Mother was 6lbs and his Dad was only 3lbs. Go figure? |
