New Here I have a new baby boy yorkie, named Champ. I just love him so much. :animal36 He is 9 weeks old. The only problem I have with him is he growls at me and acts like he is going to eat me up. He does sometimes when I pick him up. I was wonder if anyone elses puppy ever did that? People are like Oh my gosh, when he does it. I am just wondering if he will grow out of it. Thanks |

I would suggest nipping that in the bud soon. Definitely tell him no when he does it. I never had that issue with Lex. Good luck. |
Cali was like that when she was a puppy. There were times when I though oh my God I ma going to have a mean dog on my hands, I already have a pom who isn't real nice. Cali would bite me and if I told her no she would jump at me and bite me harder. I kept telling her no and stopped playing with her when she did this. She did grow out of it at about 6 months. |
He will probobly grow out of it but definately keep telling him NO...and welcome |

Welcome to YT. We need to see photos of Champ soon!! Sissy growls at me when she wants to go outside. She does love to play, though. Hope Champ grows out of it. |

Welcome to yorkietalk! And congrats on your little Champ! Im sure he is a cutie! |
Often, when I walk around, Bailey will chase after me, growling and nipping at my pants leg. When I tell her "NO" she does stop, but backs off a foot or two and barks at me - I guess to let me know she's not happy about being told to stop. If I pick her up, she quiets down and just cuddles. Now I tell her NO when she first shows any sign of approaching my pants leg, but I hope you're all right about growing out of it. I think it's kinda cute, but I know we can't have her behaving like that around anyone else so we can't allow it with us either. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk! You have to nip this behavior in the bud and quick! I would suggest distraction. When you pick him up, have a toy in your hand and when he growls, tell him "no" and show him the toy and turn it into play. Always discourage biting at all costs. All puppies will bite in play but if it is biting in agression, you might want to seek help of a professional trainer. You may need some sort of professional intervention in such cases. Good luck with Champ and remember...this is a pack situation and you are the pack leader! You are the Alpha!!! :D |
