Help! - About yorkie weight.. Hello! Just a quick question. I have my eye on a certain yorkie, and I'm not sure what he will weigh approximately full grown. He is a pound and a half at 3 months. In comparison to other yorkies, is this really small or average? (since I am looking for a pretty small yorkie - preferably not over 4 lbs fully grown). So what do you estimate he will be fully grown? Thanks a bunch! |

Around 3 pounds . |
If you search through the forum, there's a lot of weight questions so that might help you out some! ;) Just be careful with the word "teacup" around here! There really is no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie. There's threads about that, too! :p But perhaps you should ask your breeder about the parents of the little pup, usually you can estimate the weight through the full grown weight of the parents. |
According to this chart he would be in the 3.5 lb range.http://home.comcast.net/~kkingpdx/puppygrowthchart.html |

No such thing All yorkies are considered a toy breed. There are NO SUCH THINGS as teacups, there are smaller yorkies and yorkies that exceed the standard of 7 pounds. Anyone telling you that they are selling you a teacup yorkie is simply uninformed or trying to pull something on you. This pup should be at the small end of the scale full grown, but I have seen yorkies that weighed 1.5 to 2 pounds at 3-4 months and hit a growth spurt and one of them ended up weighing 12 pounds!! There are no guarantees, only guessestimates and hereditary and even that is not fool proof as somethings skip generations and then show up. Chances are this pup will be around 4 pounds, but again no guarantees. |
Everyone can give you their best guess, but these guys grow at different rates. Tia was supposed to be about 6 pounds. She still may get there, but she hasn't gained much weight, only gotten longer. If she has I growth spurt in the next few weeks, I wouldn't be surprised. She was 2 lbs 10 oz at 13 weeks. |
I know I've said this before but my Max was only 1.4lbs at 4 months and is now 6lbs at 9 months. There is no guessing all you do is wait & see. My Lexi was 1.4lbs at 11 weeks & is now ful grown over 1 year old 3lb14oz! |
Carter was 2.1# at 24 weeks and at 32 and 36 weeks was 3.1#. I don't think he has grown much more and is now 41 weeks. The rule of thumb is double the 12 week weight and add a pound to be safe but its only a guess. Lisa |
Leximax- I am just curious what the parent's weights were of your baby? How safe is it to judge final weight and size on the parents? |
