splitting up yorkies We own two 13 wk old yorkie brothers, who have been living with us for approximately 4-5 wks. We are going to give one to our daughter and are wondering what effect this split may have on them, and also how to schedule visits so they may get back together once in a while. Is there a time period that we should be observing or avoiding for their initial and other visit? How often should they see one another or does it matter at all? Any advice from someone who may have had a similar experience would be appreciated |
Every dog is different. Just like people. It depends on how they act now and then again when you split them. I think that they will be fine. Good luck. |
I think since they're this young, it's a little easier for them to be split up. A lot of breeders don't let their puppies go till they're about 12 weeks old, and then they go to different homes and often don't see each other again. For the puppies, they're going to their forever home but it would be nice if you guys would get together every so often and let the puppies play. |
I don't think it matters at all how often they see one another ---but I am willing to guarantee that they have a great time every time they do get together. My pup, of course, was separated from his litter mates and mother when I got him ---- but he does love to see all the children and all the neighborhood dogs and looks forward to playing with them almost every day. Plus, he has his other buddy, my other dog, whom he plays with constantly. Carol Jean |
splitting up yorkies thanks for the responses. our biggest concern is the separation anxiety stuff, and if we should keep them apart for a time (a wk , 2 wks??) before we start the visits, etc. Daughter lives nearby and the boys will be seeing alot of each other - going on trips together, etc. in the future. We want to make it as painless as posssible- for them anyway. Recent health issues making 2 little onesa little too much for me - so Padrig(Paddy) will become my grandbaby, while Seamus stays my babyboy. |
