Recuse Fostering I am thinking about going thru the process to foster resused Yorkies. Can anyone share with me your experience with this. We have two yorkies of our own and live on two acers. Our backyard is fenced in so I think it would be prefect. I would welcome all your thoughts. Thanks abunch!!!:) :) |
I haven't personally, but that's great if you do decide to do this! :) |
I think that is awesome of you! I have not had the chance to foster, but would LOVE to! Let us know how your experience goes, and welcome to YT! |
I fostered a rescue Yorkie for a while before he could find his forever home. Tigger was older, about 10 years old when he was found wandering around the city. Then, when he was brought to me, he was completely unsocialized and had many bad habits. He was not potty trained and would mark everywhere. He would also need to be hand fed or wold not eat. He didn't like people and would snarl and nip. He also had problems with his teeth and had to have 6 pulled, along with neuter. After about 4 months of constant loving and care, Tigger got to be more of a people person, but would still mark everywhere. It's a lot of work, with some vet bills, so be prepared. I wasn't prepared but learned along the way. After Tigger went to his forever home, I've visited a couple of times and he seems happy and healthy. I will always cherish and remember this experience where I made a difference in a little life. |
Cindy (livingdustmops) is a Yorkie rescuer. She has 10 at home right now. I am sure she can give you some good advice. |
