Is this considered a "puppy mill"? Hi. I'm brand new to this site and so glad that I finally found it. I was searching for cute yorkie names when I came across it. I have been planning on getting a little boy and little girl yorkie from a lady that raises yorkies out in another "house". They all have indoor/outdoor runs with the indoors being air conditioned or heated. It seemed nice to me, but now as I've been reading posts I'm quite confused. Is this a "mill" and I shouldn't buy my babies from her? Thanks. |
I would go check out the facility. The breeder I got my yorkie from has a similar facility, but she does not have that many yorkies. She called it a "kennel." If you go visit and talk to the breeder, and if you feel comfortable with what you see, then I say go ahead and get them from there. However, if you visit and find that the breeder doesn't really care about the dogs and is only interested in the $$$$, then go somewhere else. I think the main thing is for you to feel comfortable with where you're getting your puppies. Good Luck! Let us know what you decide to do! |
welcome to YT. I am glad you found us. this forum has info to no end. about the other?:idontknow |
Welcome to YT. Check out the facility and make sure that you do a tour of the grounds. Make sure she doesn't have more Yorkies that she can care for and check out the condition of all the dogs. Trust your gut instinct. |
I would definitely check out the facilitiy. Oklahoma is a known "puppymill" state along w/ Missouri, so you want to be sure that you make sure the babies are coming from a loving environment |
PLEASE dont be hasty when picking your pup. if you go tour the place then you'll see the pups and, regardless of whether or not it's a mill, you're gonna want to buy it. if she has A LOT of dogs in that kennel then i'd walk away. |
contact akc to see if they have any information on the kennel.....arn't most kennels registered????? and if not, shouldn't it be considered a puppy mill???? i dont know but would like to know |
