Can 2 heartworm pills hurt them I was giving Chachi and Jewels their heartworm pills and Chachi dropped his and Jewels ate it. I had just given her hers. Can two heartworm pills hurt them? |
I'm not sure, but I'll bump this question up for you. Do you notice any changes in her behavior? |
Hmmm, I don't know, is there a 24 hour Vet open you could call? |
No shes acting normal. She is resting right now but she has been running around and playing |
I would call a vet. Hold on I will ask a vet tech thats on another forum BRB |
That's funny that this same question came up!! I was driving to work last week, when on the local morning radio station I listen too was talking about the co-hosts dog eating the whole package of heartworm pills (6 month supply). They called the local vet on the air and the vet said that there is no problem with taking more than one, it just doesn't protect any longer or anything. The vet said your dog could eat 100 and it would not harm them!! Just to be sure for yourself, you could call your local vet, but hope this helps you out!!! -Ashley & Emmy:aimeeyork |
here is what the vet tech said . crossposting . heartworm pills are extremely safe. i wouldn't be concerned. when testing the safety level of the medication they generally continue to give the pills til they start to see a reaction in the animals. some dogs are given 10x their normal dose before a reaction is noted. if she is worried it couldn't hurt to call the vet because like with everything in this world each animal reacts differently . Thanks everyone for responding. I think shes gonna be okay I will keep an eye on her today thanks |
it happens Tyke ate an extra heart worm pill before accidentally...he was fine so you shouldnt have to worry =). It was when he found one of my Midols that kind of concerned me  We were driving and I...uh...needed a midol for obvious reasons and I had it in my hand with a glass of water. We turned real sharp and I reached over to hold onto to Tyke and dropped the pill. He was fine (we got him to a vet) and well I guess he didn't have cramps later that night lol :p -Melissa |
