A 75lb dog bit Buttercup Dixie, my golden retreiver, and Buttercup, yorkie, was playing in the kitchen today while I was putting dinner together for my son. All of a sudden I heard Buttercup whining and ran into the laundry and hid between the washer and dryer. Dixie ran after him and he started barking like he never barked before (he's not a barker). After I examined him, I noticed blood on his ear but I don't know if I should contact his vet or not. It is still bleeding at the moment and I'm wondering if I should get him checked out. |
Try applying direct pressure (gentle and steady) to Buttercup's inujured ear. When the bleeding has stopped check it out to see how deep and long the bite is....then you will be better able to determine whether or not she needs to go to the vet. I would also wash it out thoroughly and apply an antibiotic ointment :) Please give Buttercut a big hug and tell Dixie not to play so rough! |
Put a little powder (Flour even works in a pinch) on the cut to get it to stop bleeding. Watch their play from now on. I'm sure your golden didn't mean to hurt the yorkie, maybe just playing too rough. |
I just wanted to check on to see how Buttercup was doing today. I hope better. Please keep us posted. |
oh my, I hope your baby is better . . sometimes the big dogs think they are playing with another big dog . . . |
