Does anyone else experience this? Or am I seriously being paranoid? Tell me what you think of this: When I see Baby lying down and she hasn't moved in a while and I can't tell if she's breathing, I think something has happened to her. So I call out her name loudly to see if she responds. If she doesn't wake up I get this butterfly/nervous feeling in my stomach, and I go closer to her and "push" her with my hand (well not push, but move her..you know what I mean :p ). Then she pops up and looks at me like, "I'm not dead, I'm dead asleep!" I am serious when I tell you that's what I do. It doesn't happen everyday, I would average once a month. I don't if it has anything to do with studying to be an EMT (cause I did it before I was finished with my EMT classes), or just me being paranoid. It worries me so much that she will die on me. :( So, does anyone else do this, or am I really being WAY too paranoid? |
oh my gosh - I soooo succumb to the same thing!!! Punkin has started sleeping with us at night and if I wake up and she doesn't move I panic...thinking we've rolled on top of her or something and suffocated her. When I sit up a move a bit and she still doesn't move my heart starts pounding, then I put my hand on her and she still doesn't move, then I say 'punkin' and she rolls over for a bellyrub then I'm awake for the next half hour while my heart slows and the panic disappears. I'm sure we are not the only ones who think like this!! |

Oh, yeah! You are being paranoid! But then, so are a whole lot of the rest of us!!!! I know I get paranoid when I think there is something wrong with one of my daughters brood. Join the crowd.:) |
I read somewhere that it is not good to wake dogs up when they are sleeping or something though.. maybe when they are pups!! When I watch Guinness, I often feels the same as you. What I do is... to just go near him and touch him to see if he is breathing!!! so he doesn't wake up.. and I just pad him... instead.. |
LOL i did see him sleep so i thought he was dead because his chest wouldnt inflate so i woke him (bad bad) and when i saw he was alive i was so relief... i also thought i was being paranoid but now when i see him "dead asleep" i dont do anything (we have been together 2 weeks and he is one year) i just wait for him to wake up. now i call him "my little limp" beause he wont move!!! the breeder told me not to wake him because these dogs need a lot of sleep and when they are "dead asleep" that means they are really tired as they more often lay half awake... |
I do this too!! My hubby says I am way too overprotective of our baby, but I just love him soooooo much!! :) |
That's funny, I use to do that to my kids when they were babies, poke them to make them stir or rest my hand on their chest to make sure it was rising. |
I do the same thing, but I think I take it one step further.... If I call her and she doesn't respond, I get afraid to get up close in case she's dead.. I get this sick feeling and start calling for my husband, my son, whoever is around. I make them look to make sure she's ok. |
i do it too. i know i'm paranoid! :p |
Me too. With Cali not feeling well this past week a couple of times she was under my dtrs bed and she wouldn't move even when I yelled her name. I actually moved the bed away from the wall to get at her. She looked at me like I was crazy! |

There have been a few times where I watch Jaxon sleeping and my heart stops for a minute until I see his little chest moving. Glad to know I'm not the only one!!!! :) |
I get the same heart flutters..... I usually put my hand down in front of the culprit's nose to see if I can feel a breath. :D |
Another member of the paranoid club here. I do the same thing! |
