Poor Rudy got stung by Wasps Got home from Walmart and let the gang out and was messing around with same of my plants. Rudy is my shadow. Have a small rod iron fence around part of my patio and hung some bird houses off it. They had the nest in the bird house, before I knew it they were on his face and he was shaking his face and running like a mad yorkie. I was chasing him scream at the other 3 so they wouldn't get stung. Rounded them all up and rushed Rudy to the vet, called on the way and they were waiting for me. He was crying and rubbing all over the seats. Doc gave him a couple of shots and with in 30 minutes he was better. He is not himself tonight, Doc said he would be drowsy. Have used a whold can of spay to kill the wasp. Down here in SE Texas they have been terrible. |
Wow! how scary I hope your little guy recovers soon. |
Poor Rudy! That must have been awful for both of you. I hope he feels better soon. :big_hug: |
Oh my gosh! I nearly cried reading about what happened to Rudy! Thank goodness you were right there and could get him to the vet quickly! I feel so bad for the little sweetie! I have a birdhouse that I hadn't yet hung up sitting on my potting bench. The other day I saw a huge bee fly into it, so I stuffed some plastic in the hole. I think there were more in there and they were building a nest. I can still her buzzing coming from inside there. I won't be taking the plastic out of that hole any time soon! Sending get well wishes to Rudy...Maddie sends kisses! |
I just noticed the new name in your signature line. Congratulations!!!!! :cheer: |

Poor Rudy! I hope he is better by today |
Oh- poor little guy- I sure hope he is better today. That was a mean happening for outdoor play. Those things are nasty. And you are right I can't hang up anything around my porch cause they just take over. Theya re terrible down here. I sure hope Rudy is feeling ok and has no side effects. My Dr told me they carry a lot of bacteria too. I got stung last year and it was mess. The first day I took my new baby outside, she pounced on a bee and it must have stung her cause she wimpered but I never could see a bump. |
i know that hurts. i got stung by two black hornets last summer. I know the little baby is hurting but i hope he will be alright. Lucy, our pug, grabbed a live bee last simmer and ate it. Apparently, it stung her. her jaws hang down anyway as pugs do but you should have seen one side of her face after that. Now, my yorkies are chasing bumble bees in the yard with me right after them holloring at them. |
Oh poor Rudy, I hope he feels better today. Big hugs from us!    |
that brought shivers to me. I absolutely hate wasp. Once in a while one will corner me. they stare you right in the eye. I can face a snake or can critter but I can not face a wasp. There are only 2 things in this whole world that I am afraid of 1) water 2) wasp. If I had a wasp nest in my house I would sell the house. that is the honest truth. I hope he gets better soon. poor baby I feel so bad for him. |
OMG! How is he today??? Poor little thing. Must have been sooo scared. I hope he's ok. That is aweful. He must have been is soo much pain. I hope he is doing ok now! Sending Rudy tons and tons of hugs and kisses!!!!!!!!!!! |
Rudy thanks everyone for all the well wishes, hugs, and kisses. He is doing a lot better. He is still a little laid back. Doc is about 10 minutes away so that helped that he got the shots so fast. Thanks again for all the well wishes |
Ohh Poor Rudy. I hope he is feeling better today. Gucci sents lots of huggies. :ghug: |
Lots of hugs and kisses going out to your guy. Hope he gets better soon. |
An exerpt from www.veteranariansecretsrevealed -- I thought it might come in handy now that summer is coming /////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Summer is coming..with the heat comes flowers..with the flowers comes bees.. Bees don't go out of there way to sting, but certain pets have a way of getting themselves stung. My dog is determined to bite bees flying near his head, resulting in number of bee stings. This most commonly occurs in dogs, but I have seen a few cats who have decided to eat a bee an become stung in the mouth.. SIGNS Usually there is only minor swelling and redness- Your pet will be irritated acting itchy and a little sore. A small number of pets have allergic reactions. Most reactions are in the form of swelling, sometimes throughout the body ( hives). Some reactions are more serious, resulting in anaphylactic shock. You can see difficulty breathing, vomiting, weakness, trembling and collapse. SOLUTIONS LOOK FOR SIGNS OF SHOCK Specifically, anaphylactic shock. The blood pressure rapidly drops causing a whole host of problems. Symptoms include pale tongue and gums, trembling, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea. Often you can see quick, shallow respirations and ultimately, collapse. Wrap your pet in a blanket for heat, and put a few drops of honey on his gums to maintain consciousness. CPR In cases of anaphylactic shock, you may need to perform CPR if your pet stops breathing. Put your hand around his muzzle, and blow 2 breaths into his nose watching his chest rise. Give 15-20 breaths until your pet starts to breath on his own. Listen to your pet's heart by placing an ear against the chest. If the heart has stopped, then you need to begin cardiac compression. Place 1 hand over the chest behind the left armpit, compressing the chest ½ inch 80 times a minute. One breath for every 5 compressions. Continue this until your pet begins to breath on his own. TREAT THE SWELLING Most pets only need to be treated for swelling. The most effective is an antihistamine such as Benadryl or chlorpheniramine. Benadryl dose is 1mg per lb- so a 10lb cat can get 10mg or 1 teaspoon of the liquid or ½ of a 25mg tablet. Repeat every 6-8 hours as needed. REMOVE THE STINGER If you can see the stinger, then remove it. Scrape it free with a blunt knife blade. COOL IT DOWN A cold pack or compress will reduce the pain and inflammation. Cover the area with a cold cloth, and place and ice pack on top of the swelling- frozen peas work well. Keep it on until it starts to ice starts to warm. If your pet will allow it, repeat this within 1-2 hours. BAKING SODA This is one of your grandparents home remedies that work. Make a poultice by mixing 2 tablespoons of baking soda with just enough water to make a thick paste. Apply this to the bee sting. CALAMINE LOTION This works well for both myself and my dog. It can be applied directly to the swollen area. Repeat every 2-3 hours. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////// If you are seeing bees around your pet, then be prepared to treat a sting. In most cases, there are few reactions. But a small number have serious signs of shock. |
Poor thing, I know that panick, Bailey was stung when he was very little, I didn't know what happened, he was screaming like crazy, I was going nuts trying to help him and he was so scared he wouldn't come to me, then I noticed he wouldn't put his paw down,, then I realized he must have been stung.. but then panicked cause I didn't know if there was a stinger in his paw or not,and everytime I tried to look he would scream more,, it was horrible.. Eventually I held him,as he squirmed and they saw a stinger and pulled it out,and he limped for about 30 mins more, and then was like it never happened. But I was bananas! Glad Rudy and Mom are ok. |
