I just don't understand?! Before I got Diesel I did a lot of research and STILL didn't know it all and I still don't. One thing that I did learn was that if they just lay around and don't act like themselves that SOMTIMES it may be low sugar. I have always been told to try some nutrical or Karyo. My grandmother has a really crazy dog. This dog will eat any and everything in site. We are talking everything from A to Z. She has already had to have surgery to remove a blockage due to this. I told her to stick his butt in a crate when she was gone. She just says oh no I can't stick my baby in a cage. I just say well you better have another 800 bucks handy in case he needs surgery again. This is not a friendly dog by any means. He is over 2 and still isn't housebroken. I am really scared that he is going to bite her one day. He has tried to bite others before. I have told her she needs to show him who is boss and he will change. Anyway what gets me is the fact that she thinks that I don't know a thing!. I have learned so much from all of you. I come here first before I call the vet for everyday things. For example my baby is constipated and I came here first and so now I have to make a trip to the store for pumpkin!:D (he gets into the shepherds food all the time)Anyway I guess this is just a vent more than anything. I just wish sometimes she would listen. I guess at 78 she is set in her ways so I can't expect to much. Michelle |
I understand your frustration...many people think pens are cruel..if she has a small tile laundry area etc to put him when she is out..next time he may eat something that kills him and that is more cruel then a pen... |
I even suggested that too. She could leave him in the kitchen. She has an old house so there is a door that she can shut that goes into the dining room and there is also a door leading to the foyer. So she would only need a small gate to block off the den. Her problem with that is that he jumps the fence. So that is when I sugessted a crate. Oh well. I tried to help I guess I can't do much more than that. I agree with you tho.Next time it could kill him and that would be worse than putting him in a crate. Michelle |
Our elders can be set in their ways but the truth is..... they don't like to be told from people who the think that they should know more from. When I want to get my mom or dad to do something.... I won't directly tell them. :D I think you should speak to your vet on the side first and explain the situation. As him/her to tell your grandmother that she has to crate her. And that it is not a bad thing.... would she let a baby crawl around with out putting him in a pen? But have someone of authority tell her. You telling her is like 'waaa waaa waaaa' in her ears... it'll never work! Good Luck! |
