My girls are microchipped but you wouldn't beleive how many places don't have a way to read microchips! I watch my dogs all the time. They are always with me. |

Kloey wears a collar all the time, but it's the kind that will snap in half if she gets caught on something, she has her ID tags on them and she wears a harness when we go for walks. |
Loki always wears his collars and tags. We are required to display his rabies tag, and we take walks every day. Also, I want his nametag on him in case he ever gets off leash or out of the house. When we walk in the neighborhood we use his easy walk harness. He is capable of walking nicely on a leash/collar but this way if he does pull, he doesn't choke himself. |
Holly has a couple of harnesses, which we always use for walks. She also has a collar with her ID on it which she wears at the same time and when in the garden,as she has escaped a couple of times. She doesn't wear the collar when home alone. |
Tripp has a collapsed trachea so both mine wear harnesses during the day. They are in their crate while we are gone so they cannot injure themselves, so they wear the harness all day and it is taken off at night so they are comfortable to sleep. |
Sadie always wears a collar. We have issues with her running from me...she'll never come. And while she's always on a harness outside, she has escaped out the front door before, so I refuse to take any chances. When I'm not home, she stays in the bathroom, and there is nothing that she can get her collar hung on, so I don't have to worry about that. And when I am home with her, she's always in the same room as me. |
Sissy also wears a collar with her tag on it all the time. She is with me when I am at home and in a bathroom when I'm not as well. We use a harness when walking. I also worry about her getting out - she is really fast and finds ways to sqeeze through very tiny places! |

My 2 have wore a collar from day (1):aimeeyork :aimeeyork I am looking to buy 2 harnesses but find it hard to find them... |
My guys wear collars in the house but only to have a place to attach their tags. I stressed about it a lot when I got my first and even looked into those break-away cat collars that unsnap when they get caught on something. I finally decided it was more important to have a tag on him if he got out. You just can't predict when that's going to happen. I use a harness for leash walks, though. |
With their neck bones being so small, I never let him wear a collar in the house. To scared of it getting caught on something and him tugging and breaking his neck or even choking him. But he wears a harness on walks. And as soon as he sees me get into the closet to get it he goes crazy cause he knows that he is going for a walk. |
Kizzy has never had a collar on. I've never even bought her one. she has the step in harness she wears all day most of the time. when she goes out I either put a leash on her or I stay right with her till she wets or whatever. or at least 10 to 15 min. late at night I let her run out alone to tee but I always stand on the deck then call her and she comes right in the house. So I have her rabies tag and identification tag on her harness. I has two hooks that meet to hook her leash to. I have a tag on each hook. I dont have her name on her anywhere. I only let them put our last name, address phone # and vets name and phone # so if anyone ever does take her or find her they wont know what her name is to call her by. But I was told at the start, they need a harness and not a collar. I guess its just up to the individual what each one prefers. the trachea thing scares me too much to buy a collar. :animal-pa |
