playing or fighting? My boyfriends sister has a about 7month old maltepoo, i often go over with my baby Rylie she is 4 and a half months old she is always well behaved and is used to playing with other puppies and dogs as i always let her meet new dogs and she is in puppy classes right now. Well my question is when her dog and my Rylie are together they always get very excited and he always trys to hump her(yes he's been fixed) but then she trys to jump up and play with him then runs away so that he can chase her, well now i've noticed that when she does this jump up and run he tries to bite:thumbdown .. he hasn't bitten her, but i'm not sure if he's actually trying to bite her or that's how he plays? He doesn't interact with other dogs and he isisn't in any puppy classes or anything, so is this there way of playing him trying to bite/snap at my baby or is it something else?:eek: |
I find all dogs play different ways. My bulldog has a friend bulldog and when they get together they jump into the air and kind of smash their chests together. It is weird, but that is how they play. My dog doesn't do that with any other dog, just him. :cool: Location also has a lot to do with it, most dogs will be more aggressive in their own home (or so I find). :rolleyes: Try taking them both out to the park or have him come to your place and see if it makes a difference.:) Also, the more time they spend together the better they will be together.:D Good luck! |
Sorry, I also wanted to add you can tell usually by watching their tail (or nub, depending if it has been cropped). When it stops wagging I think that means trouble. Again, just what I have found. :D |
Mine play bite both of my boys use thier mouths when playing. They don't hurt each other its kinda like they are mouthing each other but don't bite. If you little one was getting hurt she prob would let out a little scream. |
Since Kali has joined our household Kobe is spending all his time on the couch when she is out. He wags his tail at her and runs back and forth on the couch playing with her. But, when he gets down she nips at his legs and he runs back to the couch. I am hoping this is just the puppy in her and it will stop. We are stern with her and tell her no bite. But they aren't as close as I had hoped they would be yet. |
My ratter loves to be mouthy when he plays, he doesn't bite, he just bares his teeth (doesn't growl) and opens his mouth. Most dogs respond the same way and they make the funniest sneezing, snorting, huffing noises. Sometimes their teeth clack together, and the nosie turns my stomach, but other than that it's just really cute. |
Too funny..I was going to post a thread asking this same question! My two, 2 1/2 months apart, do the same thing. They nip each other's mouths, noses, legs, tails, anything...When they first start, their tails are wagging, but then they stop, but if I break them up, their tails start wagging again...I thought it was all Yogi's doing, but I put him on a leash and kept him with me to watch, and Dixie came running up at him and started nipping at him...I tell myself that they are just playing, but I watch very closely and if I feel that it's getting a little too rough, I pull them apart... |
