Somebody please help!!!! :( My baby is 9wks. old, and a couple of days ago his stool was very yellow...i didnt think much of it since his next stool was normal...but this morning he had the same yellow stool with blood in it, i took him to the vet a week ago because he had blood in his stool and the vet said it was from having darrhea. but i am VERY worried and i dont know whether to take him to the vet again today, ive already took him to the emergency room once, and they gave me some albon and a special diet, then i took him to the vet again to make sure everything was fine. He is acting normal, still playful and active, i gave him some syrup and sugar water...also he threw up once earlier today(hes never thrown up before either) and it was clear. I am so worried and my husband is very upset because he says i am worrying too much and spending TOO much money on my vet visits. Can somebody please give me some advice??? |
hmmm, I really have no idea what it could be. But, I would make another trip to the vet. Big hugs to your furbaby.   |
Is he eating? Maybe you could call your vet and ask for a refill on the prescription or maybe just take a stool sample in it will be cheaper than taking him in. If he seem's sick then I would take him in as well. |
Without a doubt, i would take him to the vet! Diahrea and vomiting is never a good sign. Good luck and please keep us posted! Welcome to YT :) Glad you found us. Hugs to your baby. |
Does he eat the same diet day in and day out or could the change be because you gave him something he shouldn't have had? If he is eating a consistent diet like he should be with no table scraps or treats, I would suspect he has giardia or coccidia. Coccidia is treated with Albon, but sometimes takes a while to clear up. Giardia is treated with metronidazole. Coccidia can usually be diagnosed with a fecal exam. Call your vet and ask what the charges would be if you just brought in some for testing. Giardia can be harder to diagnose, but the poop is usually described as pale in color and greasy looking. |
Louis i feed him Royal Canine and some Nutro Natural choice-chicken n rice...ive tried a lot of different kinds of food, he is picky but he likes his food now...he ate once today...hes been active...i dont know, im scared he has parvo...but hes sleep now so when he wakes up and if hes acting funny im going straight to the vet. |
With parvo they won't eat or drink anything no matter how tempting. They also tend to hide and have foul smelling diarrhea. |
I was reading up on parvo and it does mention yellow stools, but I really doubt the yellow stools would have started and then went back to normal if it was parvo. If it's past vet hours and he gets worse you may want to try this parvo tea recipe. Heres the parvo tea recipe from amber technology: 1 cup of Pedialyte 2 tablets of Echinacca with Goldenseal 2 bags of Bigelows mint medley peppermint and spearmint tea 1 tbsp of diced garlic If the dog weighs less than 4 lbs use only echinacca w/o goldenseal. Heat the pedialyte but make sure it doesn't boil.Add tea bags and let it heat for a little while. Then add the rest of the ingredients. This is just a tea recipe for people who order Parvaid to help the dog live until the Parvaid medicine arrives. |
I would take the stool and bring it to the vet. Just to be on the safe side. But my MeeMee was taking a poo one night while I was playing cards with the ladies.... and I freaked out because it was poo and ooozes of blood! This is a little gross.... but I picked up the poo and I really looked at the blood and even smelled it. It didn't smell like blood..... I was almost going to run out the door to the emergency vet. Everybody was trying to calm me down and even MeeMee was looking at me like, what's the problem ma?????? Then I saw the bag of jelly gummy on the sofa.... it was cherry flavor and I realized she had gotten to it and it just what was coming out of her! So I didn't go to the vet and she is fine.... but if you don't know what it is... and it looks like blood.... don't take any chances. Good Luck! |
Louis ok, he is up and about, he dramk some water, and just ate some food and hes been playing...so does that mean his ok?? he hasnt gone #2 yet, but i will see when he does...so i should rule out parvo. hes actually playing this exact second, very active. |
If he isnt lethargic I really doubt he has parvo. If the diahrea continues I would take him to the vet and they have meds that will clear it right up |
Parvo is not high on my list of guesses. Sometimes if they have some of their shots, but are not completely immuned from a virus they can get a lighter case of it so the symptoms would not be as dramatic. I would still keep an eye on him and take in some stools for a fecal exam if the yellow poo continues, he gets diarrhea or he stops eating or drinking. At 9 weeks you have to be very careful so I don't think you're overreacting. |
LOUIS is better ok its the next day now and im happy to say he is doing better, his stool was solid and brown, hes eating and drinking normal, and hes real active. thanx everyone because i was really going threw it yesterday. |
When did you get him? When I first got Yogi, after a few days, his stool did the same thing...was yellow one day and loose and then the next stool was yellow, loose and had some blood in it. He had a vet appointment that same afternoon and I told the vet. He said it was probably his nerves from the new environment. He told me to give it a few more days and see. He was right. It went away...Don't know how long your little one has been in your home, but just wanted to share my experience... |
Ive only had Louis for almost two weeks...I thought that too, because he is very young and he was on a plane and somebody told me it could've just been him stressed out, but he's been happy ever since he got here so I wasnt sure, you know how it is, every little thing its like you go crazy, my husband gets so upset because hes like hes just a dog but to me hes like my baby that ive never had, so im extra protective. im glad hes better now though...i was ready to pay another outrageous vet bill yesterday! |
