Comparing yorkies? My family took a 3 hour trip to San Antonio yesterday and we forgot to bring Buttercup's food (BAD) :thumbdown We rushed around town to find the neareast petstore and found Petco. I ran in with my son and Buttercup and grabbed what I usually buy (Science Diet for puppies) and then a man comes up to me and said "why are you feeding for dog cheap sh*t?" I told the man that the only cheap sh*t I see was his ugly face. (That was totally mean, but I had to) He then goes how much did you pay for your cheap sh*t yorkie? I paid $3500 for mine and she looks nothing like yours. I ignored what he said and told my son we had to leave, before we turned our backs to leave, my son stood up on the cart and spat in the mans face. I can't believe people would actually compare yorkies. They're all the same! |
that's one of those situations where you should just *walk away* |
OMG that guy sounds like a total psycho!! |

EEEwwww. What a crusty SOB!!! You should have told him that you paid $10,000...but who puts a pricetag on Yorkie Love? :p |
This man was rude and I understand your reaction. I am horrified at your son spitting in this man's face- I hope you told him this was unacceptable, however nasty the man. Your comment in return was enough. I agree that all Yorkies are as cute as each other. |
"I paid $3500 for mine and she looks nothing like yours." I would have said I was sorry he paid so much and was so unhappy with the way his looked. That I loved the way mine looked. |

i would have been offended by both the man and your son's reaction. I would have tried to find enough grace and class to walk away but knowing me and my smart mouth, I probably wouldn't have found it. |
You should have said "Well there's a fool born every minute." Not sure if I would have allowed my child to spit at someone though. Two wrongs does not make a right. Sometimes we just need to consider the sourced and turn the other cheek. |

I'm proud of you Mikey. That was a very mature thought. Tell your mother she did a good job raising you. |
OMGosh what a horrible thing to say to you and I really don't think MORE MONEY makes any yorkie better....I've seen some expensive yorkies and I'm perfectly happy with my 2 UNDER-priced girls - and I also was pretty shocked that a child would spit in someones face....That needs to be stopped asap - sorry - but that is really going to land him in trouble one day.... but I do understand his feelings. It's WAY better to not let people like that get to you ...I have a super smart mouth myself and I think I would have laughed at the guy for Spending SO MUCH money and told him there's a sucker born EVERY MINUTE |
I agree with Mikey  I couldn't careless what people say about Georgie or me. I get the comparisons the rat comments I just laugh at them. People (not anyone here of course) are idiots thats why I am so close to my doggies:D |
Everyone compares Yorkies. Read the boards. Most of our discussions are about how they range in size and looks and price. Sounds like he struck a nerve and everyone over reacted. Too bad your son had to witness such a scene. |
Thats so sad! sick, rude, mean, hurtful need I say more! Plain rotten of them! Rena and her cheap but always loved and cherished yorkie Roger |
I figure it's better to ignore people like him, why give them the satisfaction of reacting to what they say? But I find it kind of amusing that the man had to brag about how much he paid for his Yorkie. Wonder what he was trying to compensate for? ;) |

dont feel like that, feelings are deceiving anyway, sometimes kids do things on there own, and maybe he thought he was defending you. I know my son would of punched him in the face, I didnt raise him like that , but, when a mom is threatened the warrior comes alive. That man was sick for saying that, what a moron. Just talk with your son about grown men acting like that, and how a man of great character and integrity would act.Parenting is a hard job, and we never get it all right, every day is a new day, to move forward, dont be so hard on yourself, every parent has a story to tell, and they are not always perfect , just let me tell ya. |
by the way, your son is so cute, and so is your buttercup..... |
I had a somewhat similar experience at a petsmart I went to. I was picking up some food for Raisin (she eats eukanuba puppy). I was thinking of changing her food to Nutro, I think it's called and there was a lady there to tell all the good things about it. She said well, Eukanuba is a premium food, but this is all natural, and so on. My husband and I went and compared the two foods, which I was impressed with the Nutro, but in the end we decided that she was doing well on her current food, never had any stomach problems and we would just leave well enough alone, and change her food when she got to adult food, after all she had said they were both premium food. We saw the woman selling Nutro on the way to the check-out, and she asked "So you guys are getting the eukanuba after all?" kinda snotty voice. I tried to explain my reasons, but she cut me off saying "so you guys didn't learn anything then." She said it in such a rude way. I just smiled and my husband said, no I guess not and we walked away. It left me a little taken aback because I thought that we'd made a fine decision and it seemed like by questioning my choice she was acting as though i cared for my puppy less because i didn't choose what she was trying to sell. |

Children learn when they are corrected and also when they do good things to give them kind words of encouragement. I hope you know what I have said here is for your own benefit as well as your sons. The man was totally out of place, and he showed his low class character by what he said, and he really made a fool of himself. IMO it is good to ignore people like that. Patti and ~~Baby Blessing~~ |
I agree with Mikey's wise words...walking away is the best thing to do in many circumstances, and this was one of those. I agree that the man was rude, but there are people like that everywhere and your son has to learn to just walk away. Lowering yourself to that man's level doesn't solve the problem...he got a rise out of you so he got what he wanted! Spitting on someone is an absolute no no. (I believe it's also considered assault.) Your son has to learn that's not the way to deal with people...no matter how rude they may be. I've always found that if you treat someone with respect, they respond in kind (most times.) If they persist on being rude, I don't waste my time on them. |
