ear taping successful taping of the ears? What works and what doesn't work? |
B/f taping the ears....how about trimming the hair off a little and see if it'll come up on it's own. |
I agree try trimming the ears or shaving the tips. I had this trouble with 2 of my girls, the shaving didn't work so i taped them, with little success. I think it's because her ears are quite big, so therefore heavier. Also I think age comes into it as i taped Duchess' at 10 months old. The taping did work on my other girl Gypsy-Rose, she was 3 months old. But when they are teething, they're ears can drop again. :D |
2 Attachment(s) My Cali had one floppy ear. I taped it for 3 days and it stood up on its own. A week later, the other flopped, and I repeated it. That time I left it on for 3 days, then off for 2, on again for 3, then off for 2, then on again for 3 and then it was up for good. Some times it takes repeated taping to get the cartilage in the ear to strengthen. There is a link where it shows you how to shave and tape but I never taped both ears at the same time as it was not necessary. I just folded the ear longways (i.e. side to side but not completely touching, although some claim that taping them touching works as well). I attached a picture showing the ear taped (but it is not a very close up shot). It looks like electrical tape but it is plain masking tape that I used a black marker on before applying. The other pick shows the after. See links below. http://glassyorkies.homestead.com/ca...l#anchor_13112 Other threads to review Taping puppy's ears What Age Does Their Ears Stand Up? I read another users method on here and I loved it! I trimmed all of my boys hair off the ends of his ears, then cut triangular shaped colored art paper (it's thick but not heavy) to fit his ears on the inside. Then used Ardell eyelash glue and glued the paper to the inside of his ears. Super easy, not messy and he didn't even pull or scratch at them like he did when I tried taping! The eyelash glue is super easy to remove, it just pulls away without pulling hair on his ears. It also will wash right off with a warm wet rag. Hope this is as easy and successful for others! |
