Coco has officially learned... HOW TO WALK OFF LEASH!!! This is so exciting for me because I'm always worried that she will dart out the door or something or what if her leash breaks, or when I'm carrying a lot of stuff or can't find her leash. I first made sure she is very strong in knowing the command "STOP". She freezes in her tracks when I say that, even when she's distracted by something else. She walks with me and if she walks fast, I tell her to slow down and she looks up at me, slows down then walks with me. I'm so excited. I was always nervous about letting her off leash but now I'm realllllly comfortable with it. Now I know she wont' dart out the door and if she does she will stop when I ask her to. CONGRATS TO MY BABY FOR PASSING A TEST :D |
Yayayayayaya Coco!!!!!! Way to go girl!!! You have made your mama soooo happy and soo proud of you!!! And we are so proud of you to!!! maybe you can come give Weegie and Brasco some lessons!!! Haha!!!!! |
Way to go, Coco!!! That's a big trick to learn! But it's an important one of course to learn, so that's awesome you learned it already! |
I am so excited. I used to be really scared and I would freak out if someone opened the door and she stepped out. But now I just call her back but she doesn't even go outside without me. I'm so happy that she learned this as I feel that for her safety it's important for her to learn my commands. I don't take her off leash all the time though. I still don't want to take too many chances. I don't take her off leash around busy streets, you still never know, even though she knows her commands, I don't want to risk it. But she goes off leash from the car to our apartment, when we go potty, when we go to grandparents' house and to daddy's house. Our walk there is all unleashed :D |
That's awesome!! Coco's a smart girl!!  I'm hoping Aggie'll learn how to do that one day too. |
That's great!!! |
Way to go Coco :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: |
I thought I would use a long leash to train her first but it just so happens that one day I put her down while I grabbed groceries out of my car (all while praying she wouldn't run off) and she just waited and walked with me. It was almost like she was just as scared as I was. She didn't want to go anywhere else, just stuck by my side and she explored but not enough to scare me or herself. She kept looking back to make sure I was there.:D |
Oh wow! That is wonderful! I wish my dogs would do that. Any pointers?? Connie |
