Gulping Food & Bully Sticks Ellis has been gulping down his food when he eats. No chewing what so ever. Its worse when I give him a bully stick, he turns into devil dog  Last night was the worst, he basicaly did not chew it, threw up and some of it was still in long pieces (he did not choke) I hate that I cannot give him things like that, but he does not know how to just sit and chew calmly !! Does anyone else's yorkie or yorkies do this ? |
you mean the bully stick break off into pieces???? |
He must have some strong jaws and teeth to chew up a bully stick. I didn't think it was possible for a Yorkie. As far as gulping the food which is bad for digestion. I have heard the suggeston to place a golf ball (or larger if you think it could be a choking hazard for your dog's size) in his food. He has to eat around it and therefore cannot gulp the food down. |
I give him the braided bully sticks and he chews it in a way that it comes unbraided. I'll either have to hold it for him while he chews on it, or just not give them to him. Thanks for the golf ball idea also. |
