HELP? My 8mo old male yorkie is suddenly peeing everywhere!!! I trained my male yorkie puppy to pee on paper over the winter and as it got warmer trained him to also go outside. Things were going well until about two weeks ago - all of a sudden he started lifting his leg and peeing where ever he could in the house - two days ago he peed 3 times on my bed (did a lot of laundry that day - and he hasn't been allowed in my bedroom since). This morning he peed on my female yorkie and then beside me on the kitchen table leg as I was having breakfast. Is this some "hormonal thing" kicking in? He's scheduled to be neutered. Will neutering help??? |
Sounds like he could be marking his territory! Beamer also does this but only when he gets a whiff of a ready female. Belly bands help. Beamer is also getting neutered at start of June, and I'm hoping this will end the marking! He hates the belly bands......you would think he is being tortured!:) |

Peeing Definitely sounds like he is marking. His hormones are jumping and you do have a female there. Is she getting close to her heat cycle? |
Bizzymamabee: Funny that you should mention that - my female should be coming into heat in a week or two (does he sense(smell) that already??? - wow what good sniffers they have!). He is made aware that what he is doing is "forboten" and seems to know that it is wrong - and once he has marked (peed)somewhere I already know, because he slinks away with his tail and ears down -- but doesn't seem to have any control over it. |
Do you plan to breed them ? |
Pee Pole I made Ceeby a pee pole when he started lifting his leg and he uses it most of the time in the house. i filled a two litre coke bottle with water and wrapped a pee pad around it and sat it on another pee pad. Someone on here suggested that. doesn't work every time but most of the time it does. |
No I don't plan on breeding them - I managed to get Tiko booked to be neutured tomorrow. Hope that solves some of these problems. But if not, I'll try some of the suggestions posted. Thanks. |
