crying when itching her ear? the last 2 nights I have heard Kloey kinda whine/cry when she goes to itch her ear, I took a flash light and looked in her ear, thinking maybe a tick was in there, but I did't see anything. Any suggestions? |
I really don't know. Maybe she has an infection in the ear. Has she been scratching at it a lot? Does she has any spot like a cut or sore or something on the outside of her ear that may just hurt when she goes to itch at her ear? I thought of ear mites but I think you can usually tell if they have those becasue the ear has a lot of black junk in it, not possitive though? I also don't know if they would actually cause her ear to hurt, again not sure? I know on our cats they shake their heads a lot and are constantly scratching their ears when they had them. I think I might take her into the vet on this one, because if it is an infection I don't know that it will get any better until it is treated. Hmmm....I'm not too much help on this one really, hopefully she'll feel better soon. |
My first thought would have been ear mites, the signs would have been a brown/black gunky liquid.I know when Gypsy-Rose had ear mites, she use to cry when she scrathed her ears. Otherwise maybe she has an ear infection? Im not sure, but maybe a trip to the vets would be best. Good Luck and I hope she will be feeling better soon. :) |
I have just seen her do this twice, and I dont think it's ear mites, her ears look clean and there not red.... she goes to the vet on the 25th, but if she continues to cry, I will up the date! thanks all! |
is there an odor when you smell the inner ear? Beamer had an ear infection and I didn't know..only sign was scratching the ear & whining when he did this. I also thought his ear looked ok......but the vet said it was definately an ear infection. Beamer also has alot of hair in his ears & we have to get a groomer to pull the hairs, he will not let me do it! Hope Kloey feels better soon!:aimeeyork |
She could have an ear infection or mites but I would for SURE take her to the vets - They can tell you for sure what's going on and you want to treat whatever it is before it gets worse. I have a cocker who has chronic ear infections - they HURT....I have to be extra careful with her ears:( GOOD LUCK !! |
My lab was itching both her ears and whining, turned out to be an ear infection in both ears. There was no oder and \I could'nt see anything either when I looked in her ear. The vet took a large Q-tip and twirled it in her ear and looked at it under the micro. to see if it was mites. He said he could see none so it must be yeast. I was given a solution to put in her ears for about ten days. |
Hallie does the same thing! Sometimes it's just because she scratched too hard. She is prone to ear infections but I can always tell by the smell of her ears. Do you have some ear cleaner? My vet gave me some and I clean her ears twice a week. I hope she doesn't have an infection, they are so painful! |
it's funny cause this is a routine with her, I put her in her crate at night and she wakes me up around 4am and I take her potty and bring her to bed with me and every night this week when I brought her to bed with me she went to scratch her ear and makes the same noise like a whine/cry sound. I have never heard her do this durning the day or evening, I just wonder if it's cause she has been sleeping so long and then wakes up and her ear itches... I dont know but I will call the vet and ask them. Thanks everyone! |
