The Kitty and the Yorkies! Since I have read a few posts with people that have both cats and yorkies, I have to ask ..... does your cat suddenly think he is a yorkie? Our cat Cocoa is always eating romeo & juliet's food (they eat Eukanuba little bites) and drinking their water. Also, when I am trying to train them (teach them to sit), and giving them a treat, she runs over meows and paws me until she gets a puppy treat too. Is it okay for her to be eating the dog food and treats? She also plays with their toys and tries to lay in their bed. She's just like a child.........It's like she's saying "Me too! Me too! Me too!" Anyone else notice this with their cat(s)? |
when i got my Lefty my cat immediately starting babying him, when Lefty lays down my cat walks over and lays with him and licks and cleans him. they play and run around together BUT Lefty gets a little ticked-off when the cat jumps up on the furniture and he can't follow. ;) the 1st time i fed Lefty his dog food (eukanuba) the cat walked right over and began eating it, he apparently liked it better than cat food and ate the WHOLE BOWL, :D i guess he just had to taste test the 1st day, since then he only tries a lil here and there. my vet told me that it's ok if the cat eats dog food every once in a while, but just not too much too often. the treats are a different story though, the cat ate ONE and puked it right back up (*it was gross*). |
No , in my case , the Yorkies think they are cat . They eat in her bowl . They played hide and seek , walking like her . A few days and I think they will go meow , meow instead of barking . |
Nicky, Tucker's kitty won't stay out of his food - I have to fill the bowl all the way up each morning so I know Tuck will at least have some left to eat. Some days they are very good and some days... I got home yesterday to find that Nicky had knocked off a partial roll of toilet paper from the back of the toilet which Tuck had shredded all over my room right down to the cardboard roll, as I moved further into the room, I discovered they had pulled down the shower curtain, rod and all. Good grief - I secured it today before I left so that can't happen again - thank God Tuck wasn't hurt!!! They are definitely partners in crime all the time!!!! Dana |
NO! Mine litterally fight like cats and dogs. Of course, my cat doesn't like anyone or anything but my husband and me. It's pretty funny thought. Molly thinks they are playing. They chase each other around the house and bark and hiss and growl and screech and stuff until we make them stop or Tazma, the cat, goes downstairs or on the bed or wherever Molly can't get to her. |
I don't have a cat but I can tell you that Yorkies act like they are cats all the time. They use their front paws to grab things, climb like cats and can be as independent as any cat. That is part of what I love about them. When I am talking to a perspective owner I tell them to be prepared for a little dog that does not act like a cat( aka housecat) but a dog who is quite sure it is a huge ferocious lion.. |
A cat in the house with the 2 Yorkies = 3 cats . It is really funny to see them . |
Sake' I have two yorkie boys, each a little over a year old and a 20 pound siamese cat named Sake'. She was here first. She is so tolerant of the boys, they hunt her down, wrestle with her, chase her, eat her food and all of a sudden Garret thinks that he is a cat. He loves to get up on the back of the couch, he wraps himself around your legs and almost purrs like a cat. He also rubs against the walls and furniture just like a cat. All I have to say to the boys, is "get Sake or get the cat" and they are all off and running. The boys are 6.5 and 5.5 pounds each and if she wanted to she could truly hurt them, but in the past year, she has never once tried to maul them in earnest, just in play. |
I agree Sydnee thinks she is a cat. loves the cat food and the climbing up and on everything and then jumping off makes my heart stop. Its a constant struggle to get her to stay out of itand off things. However, the boys really don't even tolerate her. Daniel tries but she is just too frisky for him. |
ll mine love each other one of my cats love the dog food but my one cat cuddles with the dogs and plays with there toys she always starts with them lol its funny i have 4 cats and 2 dogs so theres always somthing going on here its like a circus lol |
I have 5 cats & 2 yorkies, the cats came first. I've been told not to let either of them eat the others food because it messes up thier blood chemistry so I keep the catbowls up because they make cat food tastier because they are finicky and my cats tasted the dog food but I would yell at them and they learned and now are never interested it. The big problem was the cat litter boxes because the dogs find that quite tasty, YUKKK!!! Now they are up on a shelf in a closet |
My cat plays with my yorkies too! At first I was really afraid that she would think they were "rodents" and would go after them, but they chase each other all over the house and when the cat's done playing, she just finds someplace high up to get away and nap! Hefner and the cat love to sunbathe in the morning. They find a nice warm spot on a rug by a window and take a warm nap! I also put my cat's food and litter box up on the counter in the laundry and call it kitty korner because cat food is too rich for the yorkies and the cat poois just disgusting!! |
We took in an orphan kitten and the first thing She-ra did was start washing him. She drove him crazy by constantly washing his ears!!!!! He didn't have to bathe himself, his surrogate mommy did!!! Yes, she paws at her toys, and towards her furry sister, Missy the Chihuahua, (hubby's pup, dont worry!!!) She takes care of her like that too!!! She'll be a good mommy someday! :aimeeyork |
Ironic It's so funny how almost everyone's yorkie thinks they're a cat but my cat thinks she's a yorkie. I guess we've got it backward here! LOL |
Frankie has started to play like the cats the way he bats at his balls and tosses them in the air even doing summer salts when he's chasing them. It's really funny to watch.. He even tries to take a ball over to one of the cats and put in down in front of them (like he wants them to throw it for him) they just stare at him like he is crazy and then he gets fustrated and starts to bark at them. He doesn't understand that they don't speak his language yet. I swear though the other night when one of the cats were playing ball, I heard him "bark".. |
