when puppy coat sheadoff..... i was reading many threads.......and some one have mention that puppy get shadoof and get their mature coat..........is it true? if yes, wen usually they shadoof..... |
The puppy coat doesnt shed out the adult coat just grows into it. I got Jewels cut out when she was 4 months. Her gold grew in after that and she didnt have any more black on her face. |
Yes, Yorkies shouldn't shed hair. The hair color may change a few times in their lifetime. :) |
maybe this was taken from one of my questions. I had ask if yorkies dont shed what happens to their baby hair when their new comes in. I didnt get any answers so now I know. lol. sorry if she took this as if i knew. I was asking too. sorry if i was misunderstood. |
I know alot of people have asked this question, including myself, and I think I have finally figured it out....Yorkies dont shed, but then where does all there black hair go when the new coat comes in? Its not there anymore? My oppinion is, it breaks off. It makes since to me ,thus finding a pet hair here and there on your shirt or couch ect... Thinking their shedding ,but really their not. I think pets get dead ends in there hair the same as we do,and thats how they loose their puppy coat.:D |
A lot of people-including myself-get their Yorkies trimmed at 5 or 6 months. my girl had quite a stringy/greasy puppy coat.It tangled easily. When she was groomed, the coat underneath was silky and blonde! No problems with tangles now.Her coat is growing in now steel grey-but still silky. It is good to get them used to being groomed when they are still pups.My groomer is lovely and we will be returning soon for a face and booty trim. A lot of books say thay Yorkie coats 'blow '-or become adult coats at about 6-8 months and many advise a trim then, otherwise matting can be an issue. Hope this helps! |
my oscar is about 3 and a half months old and he's starting to get the lighter color on his face. the hair near the skin is the lighter color and gets darker as it grows out like humans getting grey hair. I'm no expert at all about dog hair (human hair is a different story tho) but from what I read the hair doesnt' shed or quit growing it just breaks off from rubbing it rolling around etc. humans actually "shed" we loose around 100 hairs a day .. it doesnt' break off unless we do something to it to make it break off. so it's a lot alike. |
yorkie's hair is like human hair. they don't shed but the same folicle of hair can change as it grows. as we get them groomed the younger puppy ends gets trimmed off leaving the newer adult hair. i've never had bunjee's body or face hair trimmed. his body is still black, but the hair on his face is a number of colors. the ends are black, the middle is brownish, and the base of the hair, closer to the folicle is more silverish. the next time i get him groomed he'll "lose" his puppy coat. |
Yes, the hair just grows. The change starts on the head then the back. My Cowboy is now 9 months old. When I pull his hair up in a knot, only the ponytail is black (his black puppy head color:) ). His back has the blue/silver look now with black hanging at the lower end (his black puppy color). You will see your pup go through many changes. Someone once said "A Yorkie is like a box of chocolates....you never know what you are going to get" |
