she's in hEAT!!! I do NOT know what to do or where to begin..and i couldnt remember my password and tried too may times so i had to make a new account!! ughh so im not a newbie- but still needing help!! i bought her a little diaper- but how does she go to the bathroom? do i always leave it on and just change the pads?? the hole for the tail looks too big so i think its useless! how long does this last?? someone HELPPPPPP ughhhhh she is supposed to get spayed next week!:confused: |
Heat lasts for about 3 weeks from start to finish. I take the diapers off to let them go to the bathroom. You need to cancel your spay appointment. |
Looks like the spay will have to wait for a few weeks! In the mean time, leave the diaper on and remove for potty runs and pad changes. P.S. Pantiliners work great and are cheaper than pet store brands! Just cut to fit your dog! GOOD LUCK! :aimeeyork |
The only time I needed to put a diaper on mine was during the night because she sleeps on my bed. Otherwise I didn't worry about it. They really keep themselves pretty clean. Also the bleeding stops after the first 9 days or so. |
ok, no bleeding since the one time yesterday????? i took the diaper off her last night and laid a towel over her bed and all is fine..but she is SO SWOLLEN. is it normal for this to be so light? |

How old is Maddie? all of them are so different with the first heat time. I had Sophie spayed at 9 mos...and was lucky she never went into heat before... I was trying to wait so the baby teeth could come out at the same time. Jut a little bit of inconvienence to you and Maddie right now...it will be over before you know it. Hang in there! :angel2: |
I was the same way with Kloeys 1st heat, she is my 1st Yorkie so I did not know what to expect! I bought pampers premie diapers and used them, I took them on and off for her to potty. I had to use white bandage tape to hold them on cause her tail would pop them off. Good luck! |
thanks for the advice. today is day#2 so i am at work right now, but she was ok still earlier- we'll see how it is when i get back, i might have to get newborn diapers....as for now she is keeping herself real clean she is trained on the wee-wee pad so i have no clue when she has to go potty and when to take it oof,, but one step at a time thanks again....;) |
They don't always bleed a lot during the first week the 2nd week is alot. Also I use baby diapers for Abigail. It works great I used premies for her first heat because she was smaller and I just cut a hole in the diaper for her tail and this year we had to use newborn they were a little big but they still worked really well. Some dogs bleed more than others and are keep themselves cleaner than others. I had one dog where you didn't know she was in heat because she kept herself so clean. And then I had another dog that had to wear a diaper, so it varies, yours may not bleed very much. |
My 8 week old Yorkie is in Heat too what to do I came home from work and didnt notice till my boyfriend saw the dog humping his son's leg. I didnt beleive him till i saw it with my own eyes, i didnt know what to do so i put him in his little space i did see this t-shirt we gave him so he can smell my boyfreinds scent. And i looked all over it and notice a little tiny stain. I am new to my Yorkie just got him on Saturday 13th of May, what normally happens when they are in heat? how long does it last if i get him neutered will this stop? Please help dont want people to come over and he starts humping their leg please help me:confused: |
Males dont go into heat only females. You could get a stuffed animal his size to hump and it may keep him from humping your legs. Neutering may or may not stop the humping. |
