Ears.... and when do they finish with teething? My 5-month Yorkie's ears are not standing up. Napoleon's a little under 4lbs. At one point I tried shaving & taping them up, and one did stand up for a week then it fell. Then I tried taping again but they both flopped the 2nd time around. Sometimes when he's concentrating hard on something, one ear will stand up before it goes down again. So what does this all mean? Will his ears stand up one day? I have heard that teething can cause ears to flop, so when can I expect him to finish teething? Thanks. |
Chachi was done teething about 8 months old |
My HaRu too~ He had one ear down & the other one up when I got him. Then it both stood up right after I shaved some of the hair on his floppy ear. He's 11 weeks old now. & the ear that was floppy went down again. I shaved some hair, but the ear don't stand up this time. Is it because of he's teething right now? Why do ears go down when yorkies teething? I also want to know when HaRu will stop the whole teething process~ So should I try taping his ears now? Or they'll both stand up when he finishes teething? Tons of thanks to whomever can answer our questions~ |
Theo had floppy ears until, suddenly, at 7 months they both managed to work their way up somehow! It was rather unusual, I think. I wanted the ears up, but I didn't want to pin them (he looked very sad this way), so I just massaged them daily--a recommendation that I've read. So, trim that hair and rub away! Your pup will like it either way and, heck, it may even work! |
Annabelle has one up one down, my breeder said it was from teething, and to patient. She said it will stand up eventually, and I don't need to tape. I will just go with that for now. |
All puppies start and stop teething at different times. I would say to get an idea, look at your puppies teeth. Does she have all baby teeth or some adult teeth. Also, count how many baby teeth she has left if she already has adult teeth coming in. Massaging their ears also can help. Not all puppies ears will go up by themselves, that is why some of them need taped to help them along. Make sure the tape you are using is light weight and that you are not putting alot of tape on because this will all weigh down the ear. Also, if you don't position and tape the ear just right it will flop down. It took me several tries on a ear to get it at the right position and tape it there and if I didn't do it just right it would flop down. I like to tape my babies ears just to make sure I have a better chance of them standing up. Sometimes they need the tape for them to develop the strength for them to hold up their ears by themselves. Just keep in mind that after 6 months it is harder to get their ears up.:animal-pa :animal-pa |
