Bruce Forsyth Dognap agony |
I think this is terrible that this happened to her but she really shouldnt have left the dogs in the car while she went shopping. |
Oh I totally agree...you wouldn't leave your children in a car unattended but for some reason people think it's fine to leave dogs...not me, I never let him out of my site..especially since dognapping has become so big over here. Still I really feel for them..hope they get them back soon.:( |
Here's the full article: --- BRUCE Forsyth yesterday told of his distress as he pleaded for the return of his daughter's stolen dogs. The Strictly Come Dancing host said: "We are just desperate to get them back. "It was a terrible blow when they were taken and the whole family has been worried sick. We just hope they are found safe and well." Yorkshire terriers Gizmo and Widget were grabbed from Debbie Matthews' BMW 5 Series car as she shopped in Marks & Spencer. The male dogs were wearing distinctive red bandanna collars with red identity discs and red hearts when they were taken by thieves who smashed the car window. Mother-of-two Debbie, 50, said the whole family were devastated and that after the dognap Bruce, 78, "came to take me home because I was in a terrible state". She added: "Dad's been feeding me and keep ing me going. He has been fantastic. "We have had dogs all of our lives - an array from Great Danes to Yorkies - and are real dog lovers. "Widget and Gizmo are like my kids and I want them back at home safely, where they belong." Debbie was away from the car for 90 minutes with the windows locked, but it was not a hot day and her BMW has special roof vents to allow ventilation. When she returned she found two security guards beside the car. Debbie said: "As I got closer I could see the window was not there. I ran over and screamed, 'Are my dogs OK?' "They said, 'What dogs?' and I knew the worst had happened. "Since then I've hardly slept and been trying to get the word out and blanket the area with posters." She said Bruce had rushed to the M&S car park in Camberley, Surrey, to collect her as she had been staying nearby at his home in Wentworth. Debbie, of Belsize Park, London, believes that since one dog is smaller than the other they were mistaken for mother and puppy and stolen for breeding value. Gizmo and Widget were taken eight days ago but Debbie was at first reluctant to involve her famous father in case it put the dogs in extra danger. She has been comforted by Lionel Blair and his wife, Sue, whose dog was stolen in January. The entertainer, 71, was said to have consulted psychics after bearded collie cross Florence vanished as Sue walked her in Epsom, Surrey. Their pet is still missing. But Liz Hurley, Engelbert Humperdinck and Paris Hilton have all been reunited with pet dogs who were lost or stolen. Police say dognapping is now Britain's fastest-growing crime with more than 200 pets a month stolen by gangs. Debbie lives mostly in Spain with her husband and the dogs. She had been due to return to Spain next week but has postponed her departure. If you can help find Debbie's dogs, call 01302 743361. |
THat is terrible, but I agree WHY would she leave her babies in the car for 90 minutes while shopping?????? |
I am unfamiliar with the weather in England, but here it is against the law to leave your dog unattended in a car. They recently had an experiment in a parking lot showing how fast the temperature rises in a car even when it was only like 70 degrees outside. I don't remember the statistics, but it was very alarming how hot and how fast it happened. If she did that here, she would definitely come back to a broken window (from the police). |
in the uk you can leave a dog in a car aslong as its not a hot day and they dont happen often here, if the dog is in a car on a hot day the police can brake the window and get them out. i would never leave my dogs in a car not now there are so many dogs stolen in the uk, i use to leave scampi in my mums car years ago if we were only going to be a few mins in a shop. one day i left him in the car while we popped in to a shop i left a little gap at the top of the window and i had forgotten i had left a 10 pound note on the dash and when we got back to the car i could see blood on the window, i checked scampi all over but he only had blood around his mouth and it wasnt his, someone must of got there hand in the little gap of the window to steal the money and he had jumped up from the floor where he would lay and bite them, he would also hold on and shake so i bet they had trouble getting there hand back out the car, there was noway anyone could of stolen him not with out losing there fingers anyway:D |
I would not leave my 2 Yorkies in a Car for 90 minutes....gosh thats way too long:mad: Doesnt matter the weather......& with Britain having high crime no way would I have left them @ all:eek: |
"Widget and Gizmo are like my kids and I want them back at home safely, where they belong." Says it all really. You wouldn't leave your kids alone in a car for 90 mins, so what was she thinking? It's heartbreaking for the poor babies - imagine how scared they must be.:( |
Poor little dogs. That's so sad and she should never have left them - especially if that kind of crime is so on the rise there. |
Ok this is gonna sound stupid but who is he and why is he so famous? |
Uk Times have changed haven't they? When I was in the UK, during the dark ages...we could leave our black Cocker tied to a post outside any store...infact mothers left their babies in prams and went in the store...can you imagine doing these things in todays world..wow! PS...he is a UK TV host... |
omg... i agree with everyone. she should not have left them alone in a car for 90min. awful.:( |
I have gone into the store for a quick grocery stop, or into the post office, something like that. I think most people that take their dogs do that, however that was WAY too long. 10 min max. Also, I have a car starter so I can have the car running, with air or heat. The radio on etc. NOW I am aftraid to do that anymore. People are different now. Yes, people now know what $$ we are paying for these dogs and it puts dollars in their eyes. Isn't it just sick? No conscience at all. My mind has a hard time wrapping around it.:( |
