Help Tick I don't know where else to post this. It's not really about my yorkie. I have a 4 year old daughter and this morning when I was dong her hair, I found a tick on her. It had not attatched itself yet so I removed it... killed it put it in a ziploc bag and stuck it outside to show my husband. I had never seen a tick before. We don't live in a wooded or grassy area. Could she have gotten it from playing in the yard? I checked my yorkie he has none that I noticed. Are there any other precaustions I should take, I'm going to try to find those granuales to treat the yard. all I know is this was disgusting, and I can't do it again. No more tics please. Help! |
My best friends 4 year old son just had a tick on him. It was on the back of his head. I saw it when I was cutting his hair. It too wasn't attached and she got it all off with the tweezers. She called the doctor and they said to watch him for a rash anywhere on his body and to watch for any flu like symptoms. And if any happen, to call back asap. Also, they asked about the size. Its the smaller ones that you really need to watch out for. His tick was rather large. But she kept it just in case. Its in a plastic bag all wrapped up. I think just in case they needed to test it. But this was on Friday morning and so far so good. You can pick ticks up from really anywhere. And if she was out playing in the yard....well very easliy could have gotten it there. And double check your yorkie. They have a tendency to get up in the armpits. My vet told me that. Mine have never had one, but I found out anything I could about them. \ I hope they are all ok! |
We live in a wooded area and my granddaughters have ticks several times a year. We've never had any problems from them. If you've only seen one where you live I wouldn't worry about treating the yard, but if you start seeing them alot -- then I would treat it. If you didn't find it attached then it hasn't been attached and you have nothing to worry about. |
My sister lives on 5 acres in a very wooded area, so far this year alone her , her husband ,he son and one dog has had multiple ticks on them. She says their not the kind that carry Lyme disease. |
Thank you all so much. I'm just paranoid about bugs, especially since my yorkie likes to sleep in bed with me. I read up some more I might try frontline plus on Finnigen, and just use Deep Woods Off on my kids. Hopefully it was an isolated incident! |
