BoBo's first vet visit we went to the vet last week for the first time...he got shots and only needs one more thank GOd for that lol I just hate to have to put him through that and he hates it to lol.....he weighs 2.9lbs at 14 weeks so what is some opinions on how big he will be....he also got a phisical and everything was great he goes back in two weeks for his final shots and heart worm pills and i think his rabies....the breeder gave him his first shot and i done the second so that will be all of them until next year lol....and another thing i want to ask you all is how old should he be b4 i have him fixed the vet said about 5 months does this sound about right to you all |
Our vet said it was time to get ours neutered either at 6 months or when they started lifting their leg to pee (a sign of starting to mark). We ended up doing it at 6 months. :animal36 |
Bailey was done at 4 months. My vet said she does them depending on their weight, health and if they have dropped yet. She said each dog is individual depending on these things. Bailey was almost 6 lbs, healthy, up on all his shots, and his boys had dropped, so we had him done. :yorkiesar |
I hold off until 6 months for the rabies, but my dogs are not exposed to others. Also, never get the puppy shot and the rabies shot at the same time. You might want to consider holding off on the neuter until 7 months if your puppy is retaining baby teeth so you could have those extracted and the neutering done at the same time and not have to put him under twice (plus you can save some money). Also always have the preop blood work done and make sure they use isoflurane gas for induction with no pre-anesthesia injection. Also consider getting him microchipped at this time. Does 2.9 mean almost 3 pounds or 2 pounds 9 oz? I would guess about 5 pounds, but you really never know. I've heard of dogs weighing this and growing over 10 pounds and I have heard of dogs weighing this and never gaining another ounce. |
i was thinking the samething about having him fixed he is just so little right now....and it is 2lbs and 9oz lol....he has dropped but still i think is is so small still so i might wait until 7 months so i can have his teeth done to i am not sure if he will need that or not but if so that would be better because i hate to put him to sleep more than one time....thanks for all the replys *hugs* |
