Growing Yorkies... Hi, just wondered if anyone could venture a guess as to what they think Oscar's weight might be full grown? I don't know how much he weighed when he was younger than 4 mths as I didn't get him until then. I took him to the vet at 4mths and she weighed him at 2.2lbs... HOWEVER, I took him at 6mths and we weighed him and he weighed exactlly 2.2lbs again - we both think that the vet weighed him wrong or read it wrong cause he had grown a lot in those two months. He was super tiny at 4mths (vet thought he was a lot younger than that) so I'm thinking he must have been a little over 1lb at that time... Anywho, he's 2.2lbs now at 6mths - when does a Yorkie generally stop growing? i heard 8 months - is this accurate, or I suppose it could vary from dog to dog? I'm asking because I want to order another Celltei carrier for him and I have a small right now, but I'm wondering if I could get away with an xtra small...the small seems so big and bulky when I carry it (LOOVE the bag though regardless). Once again.. my apologies for the lengthy post... |
i think it is different for them all but I have heard that the smaller the dog, the sooner they stop growing. Ceeby is nine months old and I just had him to the vet last week. he weighed 3.4 which is the exact same he weighed at seven months. he had a growth spurt about five months and I just knew he was going to be one of the larger ones. My vet thinks he is done. but, he is still thin to me and I would love for him to fill out some. |
I would guess an extra small would be fine. At the very most he will get to be 3 pounds would be my guess and he might not even make it to that! |
