Humping...at 3 months! I have a major problem. I know humping is normal for dogs but at 3 months? He humps everything he can get on. The one he likes most is my husband's feet. :thumbdown How can I stop the humping? |
Completely normal, my baby was humping at 11 weeks when I got him too.. :) He's trying to prove that he's going to be a GREAT stud... LOL |
Chachi did that when he was real young too. I would just tell him no in a real stern voice. He hasnt did it anymore since he was neutered. |
Malibu does the same thing. Had no idea young puppies did this. He started probobly around 1-2 months and still does it although not as often. He is almost 9 months now. |
 yep my mac does it too, he has just turned 10weeks... i was shocked.... mind you they are all getting younger and younger these days arent they :D :aimeeyork |
Samson was really young, maybe around 7-8 weeks. He's pretty good now, only uses certain stuffed animals. |
I never knew they did this at such a young age. Would it stop if he gets neutered? |

Yup. Badger did it at 12 weeks too. It's a domination thing apparently. He only does it with two specific toys (both soft, much larger than him and dog-shaped). I've said 'no!' enough times that he knows not to do it in front of me. I think it's important though that he not do it to you or anyone else in your house because it's a definite behavioural issue that could cause you further embarassment/problems. I've read that 'aversion' therapy is the best thing in this case and one tried and tested method is to get a can with some stones in it or something and shake it loudly next to his head (don't let him see it) every time he does it. Eventually it'll just be unpleasant for him and he should quit it Good luck and let us know how it turns out! x |
Mine did a little humping at 8 weeks. He still does occasionally. He's going to get neutered in a week or two. I'm sure this won't stop his occasional/rare humping (which I always put a stop to), but it may keep it from increasing. **** My pup had one stuffed toy that was his favorite "humping item." I got rid of this toy - and this has almost stopped his humping completely. Good luck! Carol Jean |
Oscar is 6mths now and I've NEVER seen him mount ANYTHING... I didn't know that they did it so young - not that I'm complaining! He's due for his neuter anytime now, so maybe it will never be a problem. Maybe this goes along with the no-barking... I think I have a non-dog.... |
