Stolen Yorkie This happened in Dallas, TX the other day. Couple: Yorkie snatched near Dallas home 08:23 PM CDT on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 By DEBBIE DENMON / WFAA-TV WFAA-TV Neman (pictured) was stolen while outside near Elm Street, said Allison Wood. DALLAS - Allison Wood said she is still in shock after her fiance took three of their Yorkshire terriers out for fresh air and a man snatched one of them. The dogs were walking near the couple's home off of Elm Street when she said two men in a car pulled up and the passenger jumped out and grabbed the dog. "It's not just a dog," Wood said. "He's like a child to me. I've had him for years. It's so sad that somebody would do that." Wood said her fiance didn't think Neman, the stolen Yorkshire terrier, needed a leash since the dogs were going to the bathroom. But when Neman wandered ten feet away, she said it was just enough time and distance for the man to make a quick getaway with the animal. "He's so upset, because you know, if he would have just had him on a leash that wouldn't have happened," she said. "But it was just one of those things. It happened so quick. He just really didn't expect it." Wood put up fliers offering a reward for Neman. She said she believes the dog snatchers took the dog because he is a pure-bred Yorkshire terrier, which is worth more than a $1,000. "This morning was horrible," she said. "But we'll work through it, and hopefully somebody will do the right thing." She said from now on, her and her fiance will always keep their dogs on a leash. |
How horrible. Hope this story has a happy ending. |
OMG. That is Just SCARY and so very wrong. I can't believe what's been happening with small breeds lately - Being stolen from groomers....back yards - IN HOMES and now right off the street ? Its shocking and those poor poor people and that POOR YORKIE ! He must be so scared. Tha HAS to be a felony - our laws are NOT tough enough:mad: If you don't mind - I need to crosspost this somewhere - |
I really hope this story will have a happy ending . IMO... This story should be an answer to peoples that are asking " with or without a leash ? . In this world , a person is never too careful . |

This same thing happened near my home not long ago. I live in a small rural community so you don't expect things like this to happen quite as much as in a large more populated place. I had seen a sign advertising Yorkies for sale in a little town about 3 miles from me. It was in front of a house that is right on the main highway that goes through this little town of 300 people. My breeder said the lady just has a male and a female and had a litter of pups. She had one of the adults out in her front yard one day to potty and a car pulled up and a passenger jumped out and grabbed her Yorkie and took off with it. I live on the same highway but my house is down a long private driveway a long way from the highway. You can barely see the house and can not see the dogs from the highway. My next door neighbor did have a Shiztzu (sp) wander down to the highway and he was taken not long ago. My Yorkie is never outside without me and my Westie never goes anywhere near the highway and he is always inside ifwe are not at home. |
That is awful!....That babe looks so happy in that pic, I can't imagine how scared he must be. His poor parents, must feel so guilty. What is the matter with some people in this world?!!....  |
 Anything of value these days is a target for thieves. The fact that is it someone's family member makes it even more outrageous. I hope the dog will be found and returned to the owners...and the thieves caught. I also hope the thieves are put on trial and the trial judge is a caring Yorkie owner... |
