Estimate of how big when adult If puppy is 11 wks old and weights 3.8lbs, how big will he get? Close to 6#? |
They say to double their weight at 3 months and then many add a 1/2 pound - 1 pound more. My best guess would be closer to 8 pounds, but you never know. |
Guess 4 Attachment(s) Hi. Bruno is 11 weeks too. He weighs 2 lbs 3oz. (2.2lbs) Most everyone has guessed 4 1/2-5 pounds. Some say double 12 week weight, some say 13 wks., and others say 3 months. I think double 3 months. Kaitlyn :) Bruno :animal-pa |
Chachi is 11 weeks and he weighs 2 pounds 10.4 ounces. I'm hoping he stays around 4. |
Lili and holly Lili was 3#10oz at 11 weeks and she is now 1 year and 1 month and weighs in at 7-7.5#. (she was a steady 6.5# until her little sis came along.) My Holly was 2.2#'s at 11 weeks and she is now 6mo at 4.5#'s. I figure she will be around 5-6#'s ultimately. |

My new little girl Kelsey is that weight at just over 14 weeks. She is definitely bigger than my others were at this age that grew to be 4 pounds full grown. I am thinking she is going to be at the very least 5 pounds maybe 6. |

Ollie is on the left. |
Kelsey is about 8 inches from base of neck to base of tail and about 8 inches from the ground to the top of her head (not including ears) while she is sitting (or as best as I can measure a wigglely dog). She seems like she is catching up to the adults way too fast. Does she sound physically bigger than Chaci? I know that weight can be misleading because my 4 1/2 pounder looks smaller than my almost 4 pounder. |
Lacy's Mom Measure your girl's dimensions as such: have her stand and measure from the base of her neck (roughly where her collar would lay), down her back to the base of her tail. Then measure (she should still be standing) from the top of her withers (shoulders) to the ground. If you're trying to give us an idea of her structure that is. |
I'll stick with the 8 inches from collar to base of tail and the measurement from floor to shoulder (at the pointy bone on the front part of her front leg) is 4 1/2 inches. My 4 pound adults are 10 inches and 6 inches; and 9 inches and 5 inches. |
? Something has got to be off here. She can't possibly be built like a dachshund. 8 for the length of the back and 4 1/2 inches at the withers? ... Do you have any photos that you can post? |

I guess the poodle pic is the wrong type to load anyway, it's showing from the top of the back to the ground for a withers measurement. |
The adults measured like this are 8 and 9 inches so that makes more sense since they are suppose to be square. The puppy does seem a little long bodied or short legged - how ever you want to look at it. |

Just curious why is this so odd? I am really lost. Michelle |
Better dimensions- Yeah, okay. That makes more sense! lol The dimensions that you were giving us were wayyy off for any Yorkie-even a poorly bred one. You were describing a dimension more appropriate for say...a Silky puppy! :p And it sounds like you're measuring your kids correctly now. A 6 1/2 wither height to a 8 inch back is more square than what you had quoted earlier! ;) Emmsmom?- This is a square breed (or at least it is supposed to be) and while yeah there are a lot of byb that aren't keeping to standard, the dimensions that Lacy's mom was putting out there had to be off and it turns out they were, by 2 full inches! On a Yorkie, that's a lot to be missing. lol |
Lacy's mom Keep an eye on the puppy you were talking about (short legged or long bodied). That'll change-depending on the age-most likely. |

Kizzy's mom She sounds like she's going to be a big girl as far as dimensions go. However, despite that she's quite square, bravo. Where did you get her from? Further if she's 3 pounds already at three months...and you think she's not over weight, then maybe she'd mature out at around six to seven pounds. Watch what your feeding her equally as how much your feeding her. |

I"m really wondering If i measured her right since I'm not really sure where to start for the height. I started like the highest bone behind the left ear on her back and came straight down the side of her leg to the tip of her paw, does that sound right? I do not free feed her, I feed her about that much 3 times a day or I put that out for her. Most days she mainly eats it all in the morning, then most days she eats part of it. When she is finished I pick up the bowl. She isnt fat at all but not skinny either. The vet said she is real healthy and he thinks she will be 5 or 6 lbs maybe, but yet he said sometimes they grow off fast at first then slow down or stop completely in just a few months. I hope she dont get over 5 lbs. her mom was just under 5 and her dad was around 4 1/2 lbs. I did see the mom and dad all her pups in her house. :-(. I am gonna send off and get a pedigree on her, when I sent in her registration papers, I didnt think I would want them for anything but since Ive read so many different things on here, now I want that to see whats in her bloodline. |

Your little ones are adorables . |
Kizzy's mom 3 Attachment(s) I'd go ahead and send off for her pedigree! :) Even if you have no intentions of breeding her. I don't like the idea of a registry number sitting out there floating. In either case, w/ regards to her dimensions, to get her proper height you should find her wither-her shoulder (pick the highest point of her shoulder blade) and take that down to the ground and you'll get her height. What is it now? The length of her back, measure from the base of her neck (where her collar would rest) to the base of her tail (where her tail begins). What is it now? I've attached some pics to help you. Please disregard the unattractive Jack Russel, but he's one of the only other photos that I have that shows you the way to measure length. Now that you've got that, go for the proper height measurement. The other two photos just show you good toplines and with the way their hair lies you can see quite clearly the points you'll need to measure. |

Oliver You'll have pups related to Ch. Durrer's Beautiful Stranger? Really? Can you send me a copy of the pedigree for these pups? I'd appreciate it! Who's side is he on? The sire or dams? |

I know it's possible, but I really don't think Skittles will get that big. My guess is 7 or 8. |
