concerned buyer Placed a down payment for a female akc yorkie and have one concern. Have you heard or seen a fullbreed with a white patch on it chest? Is this something to question? Valerie |
1 Attachment(s) my sasha was a full breed with one champ in her pedigree and she had a white patch on her chest :) not sure you can see it in this pic but you can see the white on her beard :) |
Yes. Many pups are born with some white on the chest. It is said that those with the patch will have a great amount of hair. It doesn't say that it will be quality hair...just quantity. |

London actually had a thin white line between her two front legs and she has LOTS of hair! |

I agree. Some even look for the white patch as a desired characteristic. |
Parker has a small white patch or hairs so to speak on his chest and he does a great coat with alot of hair. He is only 4 months, So I'm not sure how his coat will turn out. I have also heard that this is a good thing and looked for??? They say the patch isnt to be a big patch |
Mark, Where are you getting your new puppy from? When will you be getting him/her. Can't wait to see pictures. White on the chest and face and toe are not uncommion, they tend to disappear when the adult coat comes in. |
Here you go Mark -- Information about "white patches" from the article on Yorkie coats....... ---------------------------- There may be a white star or a small blaze located on the fore chest in the tan, or across the black and tan. This is a much looked-for point, as it is an indication that the puppy will probably be a good coat grower in quantity, though not necessarily in quality. It is also an indication that there will be no melanism, or over-supply of pigment. It is not unusual to find small white marks on one or more toes, or a fine white line on lower forjaw. These will not be visible as an adult. Any such marks should therefore be noted wherever you keep such records, as one is apt to forget which puppy had them after they grow up. A large amount of white marks, on chest, paws, jaws or skull, places a Yorkie into a tri-color classification and it is very wise to guard against this possibility.... (but, some people really like the tri-colored....) Carol Jean |
