Bath Time!! I Need Help I Just Got An 8wk Old Pup Yorkie And He's Lets Say In His Words "not Too Fond Of The Wet Stuff That Comes Out Of The Fost" He Whines And Cries When I Get Him Wet But Here's The Wierd Thing When I Put Water In His Bowl He Always Lovessss To Play In It If You Can Tell Me Y Please Do So. :d |
It takes a while for them to get used to baths. I do mine in the kitchen sink, and they aren't too bad. They don't love it but they don't fight it either. |
Yes it will take awhile for them to get used to it! Just give him time! |
When Princess was a puppy she would try and sit in her water bowl. But to give her a bath, oh my that was hard. Then I started to put her in the sink, water temp just right, and I added a toy. Now she loves to take a bath, and she plays in the pool too. :) I would just give it a little more time. Good Luck to ya! :D |
My Little boy had his first bath last week, and he was not happy at first...i done him in the sink....Bella hates a bath...and she took ages to settle...she runs off now when its bath time, she knows its for her, once she is in she is fine, it just takes time..... |
do you guys actally fill up the sink or just run water over them? |
I fill it half full for the baby.....just half way up his legs....for bella i fill so you cant see her legs.... |
I used the kitchen sink this last time too. I have a sprayer and oh did that work good. Much easier. Not as hard on the back as leaning over the tub too. :animal36 |
I'm sure my pup doesn't enjoy being bathed ......... but, we have to do it. So, I get everything ready and get him bathed as quickly as possible. I will tell you that the happiest time in his life is that "after the bath" play period -- running around like a little idiot and trying to dry himself off on everything - and being very very playful. So - again - you have to bathe your pup - just learn to be "fast." My pup doesn't fight it - he just looks like the most pitiful little thing in the world. This is another reason I hurry. I once heard that dogs don't like getting baths because they don't have any control over it. When they are playing or sitting in their water dish they are in complete control. The same goes for when you blow on your dog's face, he hates and can't control it, but sticking his head out of the window in the car he loves it because he can control it. It seems to make sense to me anyway. After lots of baths he will get used to it. Mine used to scream like you were killing him, 5 baths later he was fine. Just takes patience and time. :) |
it took mine some time to get use to it, and there are times they still dont like it , Just hang in there:) |
I NEVER had problems with my dogs and baths until Mari!! HA! This little girl, she turned a year Mar 29 and baths are HELL! #1 she is a big baby and I try to do it as fast as I can. I do have one tip for you. I purchased a grooming/trimming cd and it mentioned to put a bathmat in the sink. Well, I bought one and cut it up and it DID help somewhat. It gave her better footing. I would think by now, since she gets a bath every 5-7 days she would be better but she has her own personality and that is she is a little big cry baby! Good luck :animal36 |
No pup likes to be fully wet. Give your pup time and it'll get use to it. |
I also bathe Sissy in the kitchen sink, using the sprayer. I let the water run to the right temp first then spray the sprayer till it is the right temp before I put her in the sink. I don't fill the sink at all, just use the sprayer. She definitely doesn't like it, but she doesn't put up too much of a fuss. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. Then she gets blow dryed, brushed and cuddled! |
