HELPPP, has anyone gone through this? last friday my cat "marked" his territory (*for the 1st time ever*) on my living room curtains, its the most disgusting smell in the world. i had a carpet cleaning company come in on saturday morning and clean the area, i also cleaned my curtains and sprayed some product that claims to "prevent pets from marking the area" and SUNDAY MORNING my son and i were sitting on the couch watching The Incredibles and the cat went right back that same spot and "marked" it again RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!!! i can't keep paying to get the carpet cleaned so i bought a carpet cleaning wet/dry vacuum thingy this morning but i can't keep cleaning this EVERYDAY. i don't know what to do, it's horrible. i'm worried about my yorkie Lefty picking up this bad habit from my cat. my cat is 7yrs old, neutured and only started doin this friday, out of the BLUE. what causes this? and how do you stop it? is that a habit that my yorkie may pick up? any advice is MUCH MUCH MUCH appreciated . . . |
I know nothing about cats so this is just a guess. Do you think that your cat is marking because you brought a new dog into the house? as for you yorkie. I know dogs will mark over dogs area. Don''t know about cats. Sorry, not much help |
I probably won't be much help, but I also wondered if it could be a behavior because of the new puppy. I suppose it's also possible that it could be a medical thing like a bladder or kidney infection. Hard to say, but I sure hope you get it figured out! Best wishes! |
We have cats, and he is probably doing it because you brought a new animal into the house. Even female cats will TRY mark their terrority. The male cat even though the new animal is a dog, is letting the new animal know that he is the Alpha male. If you haven't already you can try this stuff http://www.petco.com/assets/product_...566301807C.jpg Unique enzyme solution works fast to permanently remove unwanted stains and odors like urine, feces, grass, blood, dirt, and more. i went yesterday to get the FourPaws WeeWee, the store had ran out of it, so i bought some Nature's Miracle. i used it last night and it got rid of the smell. he didn't mark it last night OR this morning so far. :) i called my vet and she told me to bring my cat in on saturday just to check him out and make sure that it's not a medical issue. if everything checks out and it isn't medical than i guess it is because by the new puppy, even though they are really close. :( thanks for all the advice guys, it was helpful. :D |
They do that if they have a urinary tract infection too! |
