Just curious... Everytime we come home, Lily (9 months) acts as though we've been gone for months. She squirms, wiggles, jumps, shakes, licks and generally acts as though she's having a seizure :) She jumps until we pick her up but then is so hyperactive you can't even hold onto her! She's pretty calm otherwise. It's just when we come back...even if it's only been an hour. Does anyone else's pup do this? It's not really a problem...I'm just curious. And here's another thing...she is a COMPULSIVE licker!!! I've never had or seen a dog that licks people as much as she does. She would lick our faces for hours if we'd allow it! We have a licker in our house. Chance will wash your face, noise inside and out if we let him. He loves to cover you with kisses. He even will lick our feet if we let him. Tickles.... :p We have two dogs so usually when we come home I address out older dog first and ignore the puppy. He will usually want to kiss on our older dog when we come home. |
Cali will get real excited when I come home and they say ignore them at first but she won't let me!lol |
hehehe, gotta remember that time flows differently for dogs - what is one year to us is 7 years to them ... how long is 30 human minutes to a dog? So far as the licking? have fun - my Mattie is a non-stop licker, I kid you not. He is always licking someone or something. For some reason he loves to lick the tops of my feet. He'll move to my toes eventually, but that I can't stand - feels too weird and creepy. He loves to lick my husband's arms and goes bonkers if his daddy is wearing long sleeves! I don't think this trait can be broken, personally, and I wouldn't want it too. I love getting kisses from my baby. |
No , you don't have a neurotic little one . You have an expressive one , I love when I come home and my little ones are really happy to see me . They are so funny . Mine are all like yours and really appreciate it . |
LOL !! I've been blessed for FOUR YEARS with the same thing when I come home - I never get tired of it. Consider yourself very loved. |

Dezi does the exact thing, she squirms, wiggles, jumps, shakes, licks and takes off my hair pin (eveyday). My husband and I love it. The funny thing is that she goes to Doggie Day Camp two days a week and when I pick her up, she does the same thing and people ask me If she was boarded for a week or so and I say no, she was just here for the day! We stopped picking her up because we almost dropped her because she is moving so much. Now we get to her level and she loves it. :animal-pa |
I can go out to get the mail and they both do that. I just love it. As for the licking. Mac is more of a cuddler, Mellie is a major licker, especially feet. My daughters friend came over wearing sandels and Mellie went right after her toes. |
Major licker! Oscar loves to lick. I can stand it, my hubby can't! And Oscar is like "c'mon dad! It is just a little lickin!" As far as going bonkers when we leave him, we hardly ever leave him and when we do, we crate him. So when we come home he is so sleepy he is like "oh, it is just ya'll...yawwwnnnnn!!!!" Then he gets out and stretches and commences the licking! |
