Harley and Davidson's Ears I am new to this site. But I have 2 yorkies, Harley and Davidson, they are brothers and are 4 months old. But I cannot get their ears to stand up. Each of them has one that will stand up but the other wont. Will the other stand up eventually or do I need to do something about them? I do trim the hair off but I cannot find any tape that will stay on their ears. Thanks. |
hi and welcome,, i had the same problem with my lexi, hers would do the same thing.. eventually they both stood up.. i was so happy.. i would say both up at 8 months |
My vet seems to think the taping is an old wives tale, but many swear by it so I don't know. My vet does recommend trimming the hair and massaging the ear tips. It's still not too late for them to stand. A lot of times they are up and then go back down at about 4 months because of teething. |
My little 3 lb Harley welcomes you to the site I have another puppy Harry whose ears stood up and have stayed up after I shaved their backside. |
Harley & Davidson's ears I have heard of massaging them also. So I do that everyday now. They are just so cute when they stand up. I do shave the outside and inside of the ear. So hopefully they will stand up after awhile. Thanks so much |
When i got Harley and Haley they fell and went back up again,,, so i am no help.. But i just wanted to say welcome and i love your babies names, i guess you like motorcycles too :D ??? |
Taping is awesome. Shave both sides of the ears and use scotch tape to tape them. You can find sites through google that show pictures of exactly how to do it. I have taped 2 yorkies ears and both times it has worked brilliantly. |

I told him it don't matter what we have going on next year i'm getting one:D the house can wait, i feel like that one commercial on tv, i don't know if you ever saw it, it an old man sitting on his porch with his grandchildren and a couple motorcycles came past and the kids asked there grandpap why he never got a bike and he said he put sided the house instead :( That's not going to be me...... |
Welcome to YT Harley chick!!! We ride as well. Or should I say I ride on the back. Sold my bike last year. The roads were much safer with me on the back! I do miss it though and get very jealous everytime I see a chick riding her own. About taping H&D ears. Here is what worked for me. Trim the ears half wayup. Fold the ears in half vertically and tape with masking tape for about 3 days. We did this for Jill and it worked great. She came to us with standing ears but about 3-4 days later they started to droop. I searched this site for advice and this is what I found. They have been standing for a week now. She is 14 weeks old! Good luck! Post lots of pictures...we LOVE to see pictures! :welcome4: :yorkietal :yorkiesar |
Thanks alot. I did tape them for about a week. Davidson's is still standing but Harley's fell. I guess I am going to have to tape his again. I do keep them shaved all the time. Yeah I get jealous also when I see a woman riding one by herself. I will have me one this year. Hopefully. Thanks alot for the advice on the ears also. They just turned 16 weeks yesterday. I am afraid if I dont do something now then they wont ever stand up. But Davidson's is doing really good now. |
Yeah sometimes I feel like that will be me also. |
