Help!!!! I brought my 2 month old yorkie home yesterday and he eats ok, pees everywhere and i scold him and then show him where the weewee pad is, BUT he wont poop! he only pooped twice since he came home yesterday afternoon. Once in his crate at night and then sometime today and it was 2 small diahhrea like pieces. What do I do, when will he poop! |
I bet he is pooping and then eating it before you see him. Ness still eats his poops sometimes and it is frustrating for me but that's just what puppies do. Watch him more closely and you might just catch him... |
i wouldn't be scolding him for peeing off the pad. he is a very small baby. and as far as pooping, it sounds like he is doing fine, maybe just getting adjusted and had a tummy ache. Welcome to YT! and don't get too worried, just keep an eye on him and make sure he keeps eating, drinking, and acting normal. it should clear up soon and if it doesnt you should talk to the vet. also if you changed his food that could be it. |
If he's constipated add some Vegetable oil to his water. It'll slide out. That's what I do to Baby. :p |
Welcome to YT!! The poor baby is very young at 8 weeks (12 weeks is youngest they should be taken from their mom) and probably very upset and stressed. When they're stressed, they'll get the runs. How much he poos depends on how much he eats. Do you have Nutrical for him in case his blood sugar drops? Just be patient and remember that you're dealing with a very young and tiny baby here. You will probably find that rewarding when they go on the pee pee pad may work better for you than scolding. If you do a search on potty training here you will get lots of good helpful information. |
Yes, it is my understanding if you scold him when peeing or pooping then he will just try and hide when needing to go. He is very little - just a baby. If you are very patient I bet he will get the hang of it before a month is up. Good luck |
Congrats on your new family member, and welcome to YT!! :) I agree that he's probably quite stressed with all he's been through in the past little while, especially being so young. In my experience, when they are stressed, it does have quite an effect on their bowels...usually diarreah, but sometimes the opposite. Have you had him in to the vet yet? It's always a good idea to bring your new pup in to have him checked over just to make sure that everything's okay. It's a good opportunity for the vet to familiarize himself/herself with the new little one. Do you have any pictures yet? We'd love to see your little guy. Best wishes! |
Thank you so much Thank you so much guys! Yeah I will try and lay of off him for a little. Today he will be in a confined area when I leave for work which is easier to monitor. Pics coming soon! |
I brought my pup home about a month ago. He did the same thing. He was 9 weeks old. He hardly pooped at all and when he did, it was runny. It worked itself out with Yogi. I used the same food that he was used to but the vet said that he was probably just upset and stressed and that he should be fine once he gets adjusted. And he was. Now, he's a pooping machine :p I wouldn't worry. When you take him in for is check-up, just mention it to the vet. |
