Puppy question... So Cookie is 9 weeks now and I have a question. His stomach seems to be getting big. Is that normal or maybe he is eating too much? Any ideas? |
a bloated tummy is sometimes an indication of worms. |
How much does he weigh? Aggie's stomach was kind of big when she was 11 ~ 12 weeks too. But, it was because we overfed her...lol. You may want to bring him to his vet for more accurate assestment. |
Puppies have puppy fat but if it is bloated it could be worms. |
rollie pollie I have a litter of three pups.. two of which are fat yet in the normal range, and then there is my oldest male. He is sooo fat, he litteraly roles sometimes when he walks. My puppies are 7 weeks old. He is worm free, but I don't know what or where he came from. Nevertheless, he is a cutie pie, and the sweetest one of the whole bunch... a true lap dog. I've nicknamed him Jakers after a little pig on PBS kids. What a rollie pollie. |
The very first night we brought Smudger home I fed hom too much, (double what I should have :( ) His tummy was very very bloated and he was walking funny. I can laugh about it now but at the time I thought I had killed him, it was huge. I then asked my vet how much I should be feeding and he gave me a chart with how much to feed for weight and age etc He never had a bloated tummy again. It could be worms though I'm no expert, just giving my experience :) |
When we got Lyric we though he might have some wommies, but after 3 de-wormers, none came out. He grew into his fat tummy and now I miss his chubby tummy walking around. He could just be a fat puppy :) , but a de-wormer never hurts!! |
Daisy had a massive belly when we brought her home and it turned out to be worms. We gave her a notch of Panacur paste for 3 days and she lost her bloated belly almost straight away. |
